My job is to support and challenge you to get to know and accept all parts of yourself (yes, even that harsh inner critic). Together, we'll heal old wounds so you can feel more balanced and integrated.

My counseling philosophy is rooted in the idea that all humans have the ability to grow and heal. No human being is broken, and most mental health struggles stem, in part, from difficult external circumstances, like a traumatic past or a flawed culture. Through active listening, reflection, and gentle challenging, I help you become better acquainted with yourself, so that you can live in closer alignment with your values. I specialize in working with eating disorders and body image distress, but I also work with anxiety, depression, relationship and family struggles.

As a queer neurodivergent (autism/ADHD) sex therapist, I provide a unique experience for my clients to be able to work through issues around sex, sexuality, trauma, religious trauma, gender dysphoria and other mental health issues. I provide a safe nonjudgmental place for those who identify as queer, neurodivergent, kinky, ENM who wants a therapist who has extensive training and understanding of the issues that you face and deal with.

I want to help you achieve clarity and comfort. If you are experiencing anxiety, anger, sadness, confusion, or other emotions that interfere with your life and relationships, I will work with you to better deal with current stressors and your emotional and behavioral reactions to them. Often, this involves working to heal past traumas. I work relationally and incorporate learnings from psychodynamic, attachment, mindfulness and existential theories.

I look for clients that are serious about change, tired of the dead ends and ready to step into a new life path as their best selves. My practice offers tools for trauma, depression, anxiety, and also works to progress life's bigger picture, and aid the search for direction and purpose that we often feel is missing. This toolset includes EMDR and Internal Family Systems, as well the creation of a healing space to reflect. We can bring about hope to the stuck parts of our worlds, and gain an edge to finally be fully present in our own lives and relationships again. I incorporate psychodynamic talk therapy to understand the stuck points, while incorporating mindfulness and somatic work to connect the mind and body. Additionally, I acknowledge that oppression exists within marginalized communities, thus treating the individual in a social context.

My approach to therapy is compassionate and direct. I will be respectful, but I will also be honest. I routinely give homework assignments as part of therapy, with the belief that if you accomplish the task you will start to experience the change you seek. I will try to understand both the nature and context of your problem and the potential impact of change before I offer helpful solutions. I will ask you about where you are trying to go, and we will work together to develop a practical plan to help you get there.

Everyone deserves to be treated as an individual with respect for their own beliefs, goals and definition of success. It is on this strong belief that I base my work with children, adults, couples and families. For 25 years, I have been supporting growth and healing of children, adults, couples and families with multi-layered struggles. These include; mood struggles, communication and relational conflicts, history of acute trauma, behavioral struggles, family conflicts, and identity struggles and substance use/abuse. I also have long term experience working with families who have come together through foster care or adoption.

Therapy is writing your own story as we embrace the ‘self as inherently fluid’ and that all individuals are capable of crafting new and empowering stories that include a new sense of self. You may not know it but you are already whole. However, for most of us, our whole, authentic self has been lost or covered over by life's trials, traumas, & family/societal demands. We build up complex defenses. Then we develop an inauthentic self to get by in a complex and confusing world. In our work together we will uncover and rediscover your wholeness, authenticity, and radiance. Clients who would most benefit may have had some past therapy. My clients are typically midlife or older (but not always) and may be experiencing a challenging life transition, or simply want a fuller, richer life.

She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a play therapist, a relationship therapist, and a Certified Autism Clinical Specialist.
