A few openings as of July. Are you struggling to live the life you want? Do you keep finding yourself in the same place without knowing how to change? Current situations & events can trigger old pain & trauma which can be confusing & negatively impact relationships. They can also lead to creating misguided stories that you tell yourself & that keep you anxious or in fight/flight states. We sometimes need help untangling & making sense of our experiences &/or trauma in life in order to thrive. Through non-judgmental warmth, compassion & self-reflection, we re-wire old thoughts and behaviors and help you live a more authentic life.

Life experiences and transitions influence the way we live, and can be the main reason we are experiencing the types of distress we find ourselves in. They force us to let go of the familiar and face the future with a feeling of vulnerability. We can experience great loss, fear, and not knowing where or who to turn to.

Since no two people are the same, no treatment should look the same. I believe in individualizing the counseling experience to the client and their unique needs. Thus, I practice with a trans-theoretical model or across theories. I take into account your readiness for change, your strengths, and your developmental level to create a working relationship that allows for growth and resilience building. Some approaches I have utilized in the past include Wellness Based Counseling, EcoWellness/ EcoTherapy, Cognitive-Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Existential Therapy.

As we all go through life trying our best to stay afloat and happy, sometimes asking for help can seem like the hardest thing to do. I believe that people have within themselves the ability and strength to enact meaningful change in their lives. By working in a collaborative manner with a client-led and person-centered approach, finding motivation and unearthing hidden strengths can lead to positive change and new outlook on life. By utilizing new coping skills and building a therapeutic alliance, we can work other to overcome those previously insurmountable waves of life. My Practice is Taking New Patients for Psychiatric Care!

Welcome! I am so glad you are here. I’m Danielle, a therapist who focuses on working with those on the journey to parenthood or are navigating the challenges that come with being a parent. I work with individuals coping with pregnancy, postpartum mood disorders, infertility, and loss. In addition, I work with adolescents and adults who wish to address experiences with trauma, life transitions, anxiety, or stress. Life can be hard – I see therapy as a place to share your story, in its entirety, without concerns that you need to censor yourself.

My work draws on depth psychology, archetypal patterns and personal rituals, and relational and feminist approaches to therapy.
My clients are often those keenly aware of the complex time we live in, and are interested to understand what is keeping them from having the vibrant life they seek. You are doing "all the right things," and yet you continue to feel unfulfilled, anxious - in your relationships, sex life, in your work. You might feel stuck creatively. You feel distant, or at odds with your physical body. You'd like to know your story more fully, to understand how past experiences and cultural conditioning have impacted you, and to give your story voice, so you can express yourself - in relationships, work, art - from a place of deeper authenticity.

Not taking new clients until Sept 2023. Therapy is an inherently collaborative process. Effective therapy begins by building a foundation of trust, understanding, and compassion. I see my clients as experts on their experience, their values, and their goals. My role is to work with individuals to identify and develop creative strategies, tools, insights, etc., to support their growth and healing. As an integrative therapist, my work is primarily based in Gestalt, CBT/DBT, Mindfulness-based therapies, and is neuropsychologically informed. My work is grounded in feminist/intersectional frameworks with an emphasis on cultural humility.

Because each client’s goals and path are unique, I employ an eclectic, client-centered approach to therapy founded in Feminist and Narrative therapies, Family Systems Theory, and Attachment Theory.
I am, first and foremost, interested in working with people as people, not as their diagnoses. As a fellow human and collaborative therapist I'm interested in meeting my clients where they're at with whatever they are facing. As an ADHD-er myself I particularly enjoy supporting other neurodiverse folks traversing this neurotypical world. I am also passionate about supporting other therapists through the challenges they face as caregivers and humans.

As a Queer and Non-binary supervisor I use feminist, mindfulness and strengths-based approaches to supervise from a social justice oriented lens. I also strive to help my supervisees in their own career development— especially as it concerns how to make a good living while keeping therapy accessible within the context of private practice.

Feminist Therapists
How does feminist therapy work?
Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.
What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?
Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.
How long does feminist therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.
Does feminist therapy work?
As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
