I earned my Master's degree from a holistically oriented clinical mental health counseling program at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts - one of the most comprehensive programs of its kind. Since earning my degree I have provided counseling across a variety of settings including non-profit and for-profit organizations, government agencies, hospitals, employee assistance and now in private practice. Locally here in the Rogue Valley I have worked for both Asante and Jackson County Mental Health. At the latter location I trained the RN staff in counseling skills and fellow counselors in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

No art experience or skill is necessary to take advantage of art psychotherapy and be able to see issues from a new angle.
As a Board Certified Art Therapist I give my clients a safe space where expression without judgment is supported. I work with adolescents and adults in both brief and long-term art psychotherapy. I work with people to transform trauma and anxiety, as well as those questioning sexuality and gender identity. The modality and practice of art psychotherapy combined with my background in depth psychology create a therapeutic experience that supports your own internal wisdom in the process. I am also practical and provide immediate skills to my clients for managing stress, changing detrimental thought patterns and behaviors, and gaining insight.

In addition to traditional talk therapy, I also offer Art Therapy.
My hope is to support clients in developing a stronger and healthier sense of self while increasing access and understanding to their feelings. Sometimes life becomes too difficult to manage and we need a little support to get us back to where we feel good again. By reframing our experience and learning new ways of thinking about it, we are able to gain insight and meaning. Using a humanistic approach and positive psychology, the focus is on helping clients reach their goals, highlight their strengths, and honor their experience.

Expressive therapies such as art, play, and sand tray provide developmentally appropriate ways for children to communicate.
I strongly believe that we can all benefit from spending time and energy on attending to what we need to heal past hurts, understand unhelpful patterns, and ultimately move forward. I view my role as an ally and witness to your journey. I will contribute my expertise and support, offer techniques, add insight, and help hold space for strong emotions but I will respect that you are the expert of your story. I frequently work with individuals or families dealing with difficult transitions or relational issues. It is my goal to help you, your child, and/or your family function to your highest potential and live your happiest lives.

I specialize in trauma, PTSD, sexual abuse, anxiety, depression, CBT, MI, parenting, family issues, special needs families, mood disorders, eating disorders, recovery, chronic pain, Brainspotting (similar to EMDR), mindfulness, anger management, depth work, and art & music therapy.
Stress levels are rising, yet we have less time to focus on our needs. Most cannot take time off work for therapy. Mothers struggling with childcare need support. Mobility issues can be a barrier to counseling. I believe that the solution is Telehealth. I'm dedicated to providing compassionate and evidence-based therapy to navigate life's challenges. I create a safe and supportive environment to explore thoughts and emotions authentically without judgement. Therapy and trauma work do not have to be exhausting. Together we will do small steps: identify patterns, symptom management, discover healthy ways to cope, and problem-solve.

The right support can make such a difference when things are feeling overwhelming. While we’re each on our own journey, and we can go it alone, we don’t have to. For some that may mean I’m a skilled companion, helping them through transformational recovery from trauma. For others that may mean I help with managing anxiety and depression, support through life transitions, or a place to explore the profound transformational potential calling to us in existential and spiritual crisis. Currently I provide therapy, clinical supervision, case consultation and trainings.

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
