I am a proud professional counselor. In the last ten years of my career I have worked with university students and individuals with severe persistent mental illness. I was drawn to working in higher education because university students are often times ready to change and dive into working on growing as people and developing new patterns of behavior. I enjoy helping anyone willing to take a few moments to try an experiment with their thoughts, or try something new. It may be a bit anxiety provoking at times but it helps us all to grow and change. I aspire to be an expert in helping clients find relief from their issues.

Accepting New Client- Our brains are pre-programmed to try almost anything to maximize our chances of getting our needs met. Sometimes, our brain tries to meet these needs for safety, peace, and connection in ways that don’t seem to work like they used to. If something feels slightly out of sync - I want to hear about it. If the wheels have come off completely, and everything feels like chaos - I want to hear about it. You deserve support and expertise as you let go of the things that used to work and open up to new solutions and perspectives. Whether this is exhilarating or terrifying, just know you don't have to do this alone.

I pull from IFS, EMDR, DBT, ACT and practice harm reduction.
I am a trauma specialist providing virtual appointments throughout Oregon, Florida and NY. You would probably seek out a cardiologist if you had a heart issue, right? Well, if you have the opportunity, I suggest you seek out a therapist who specializes in your unique issues. I am not a generalist; I specialize in Trauma, Dissociation, Eating Disorders, Body Dysmorphia and anxiety. I work with these issues because they're what I'm most passionate about and I've dedicated my life's work to combatting the systemic issues that cause or exacerbate those issues.

Finding trustworthy professionals to help you with intimate issues is embarrassing and difficult. You can find a safe space in therapy when you can find it nowhere else. This is my most important skill, something not learned in school: unconditional positive acceptance and honest, non-threatening communication about intimate problems. Here you will find sensitivity to private behaviors which are regarded with non-judgmental acceptance and respect, never shame nor intolerance. Now accepting CareOregon members.

I mainly work in existential, acceptance & commitment, and attachment theory alongside emotionally focused therapy approaches.
Note: Currently only accepting clients for relationship or couples therapy. As a queer and trans relationship therapist, I help my clients envision a culture of their relationship that honors their whole selves while building effective communication. This could include learning how to recognize and express needs for connection; navigating conflicts in a compassionate way; exploring boundaries for non-monogamous relationships; or re-establishing trust after conflicts. I specialize in working with people who live outside of the "norm," including queer, kinky and non-monogamous folks, from a non-judgmental and liberatory framework.

I strive to practice cultural humility, and I draw from various approaches such as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy and NVC, while doing my best to adapt to your needs.
Hello! I am currently accepting new clients, but I do have a wait-list. My goal is to provide a space for you to develop and work toward goals that feel relevant and doable. We can work on developing healthy coping strategies for current stressors, increasing understanding around past experiences, as well as increasing awareness in the present. I believe therapy should be productive and enlightening, but I also know it's uncomfortable and vulnerable. I will ask for your honest feedback throughout the therapy process so that I can adjust my approach as needed.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
