Life in today's world can make almost anyone feel overwhelmed. There are so many variables that can influence how we experience ourselves, our loved ones and our society. I am adept at connecting with clients, finding patterns in their lives, and exploring possibilities for real change. We can't always help what life gives us, but we can surely change how we respond. Some issues and attitudes influence our thoughts and behaviors more intensely than others. Good therapy carves out space in the mind which enables us to turn the volume down on the anxiety and depression that interfere in our capacity to find contentment.

I work with a wide range of issues including men's issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, grief/loss, and existential concerns.
I believe our past experiences can have a lasting impact on us, effecting how we move through life as adults. This can impact how we view ourselves, how we view others, and how we connect in relationships. Fortunately, our past experiences can be worked through in adulthood. As adults we can intentionally explore what we have learned to determine what we can hold onto and what is no longer serving us. This means we can orient toward a journey of healing and growth. This may involve confronting past lessons, examining our present patterns of relating, and adjusting so our futures can be aligned with who we are and what we want.

I am also trained in Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT) & Gott man Lvl1.
As a 2nd gen Asian-American born to immigrant parents, my cultural identity has been one of depth and confusion. Holding values from my parent’s home countries, mixed with my American values; it has widened my understanding of mental health from a cultural lens. I'd like to provide a space for those exploring their identities and culture and how it has played a part in your upbringing and development. I understand family values are important, but sometimes can conflict with our own individual goals and experiences. In the space, I hope you can feel comfortable to casually show up as you are.

For couples, I utilize The Gott man Method, assisting premarital and marital couples who are at decision points, dealing with repetitive conflict, and wanting to connect better.
As your therapist, I provide a warm and supportive space where you can talk freely without being judged. I won't just sit there – instead, I'll ask questions, offer suggestions, and reflect on what you share. Together, we'll work on dealing with the things that are bothering you in your everyday life, be it challenges with relationships, work, or family. Whether our work is one-on-one, with you two as a couple, my clients gain valuable insights and practical tools to get unstuck and move forward. Imagine leaving each session feeling understood, empowered, and equipped to navigate life with confidence.

I'm going to be real with you, genuine hu man to hu man conversations.
An ideal client is one who is ready to be honest with me about what's really going on. What they're really feeling. A person who is ready to turn over some stones and see what's really underneath life challenges. A person who is ready to utilize the skills and tools they learn in therapy and actively incorporate them into their daily lives. Their issues may seem varied but from my experience we are all trying to get our basic needs met and when they're not we become disturbed. Let's find effective ways to get your needs met. Cope with the unexpected challenges of life and navigate toward a life you dreamed of having.

Every person faces challenging circumstances throughout life, but no one has to endure the pain of difficult experiences alone. We know from experience that therapy can be transformative and offers the potential for enormous growth and positive change. The therapeutic relationship is central to the change process and as part of this, I strive to foster a collaborative approach with my clients by creating a safe, accepting environment. I resonate with the Christian community and, in addition, folk that may have their own religion and have a totally different worldview- which is, perfectly OK. I find that all still yearn for belonging, acceptance, and a strong desire to be seen as special by themselves and others. Unfortunately, life and important others in your world, as a child or later, did not cooperate. Instead, they treated you with shame, verbal abuse, rejection, and you were led to believe that you were marred or flawed in some way, resulting in a sense of worthlessness. And through learned coping strategies we sort of half way existed. Familiar?

Over several decades I have worked with people who are in many different circumstances.
I strive to provide care that is customized to your unique strengths and weaknesses. The approach I use is called "integrative" in that thoughts, actions, emotions, and relationships are addressed. I understand that it isn't always easy to talk about problems. I'm patient, and I ask plenty of questions to better understand. To me therapy implies collaboration, where we both work hard toward successful outcomes. I tend to be a pretty active therapist, but I also know how to quietly listen when that fits you better.

Who am I? This timeless question invites an inquiry into one's true nature, marking the beginning of a journey toward greater freedom, connection, and joy. I work with a multicultural clientele suffering from a range of issues, with a strong focus on self-love, compassion, empathy, and warmth. For those struggling with depression, anxiety, finding vision in life or rediscovering personal identity, we bring a grounded, body and heart focused method to therapy. Suffering is a part of life, and sometimes we learn unhealthy coping strategies, including substance use and addictive activities which can also be addressed in our sessions. Restoring self-confidence and appreciation is a major part of the work we do together.
