I am honored to walk alongside you on this part of your journey. Seeking help takes courage and I commend each and every client for taking this first step. Those struggling with a harsh inner critic, attachment issues, and existential anxiety would work well with me. I am also interested in how the past is affecting the present. Through various body-centered offerings, I will often bring the experience of therapy into the here and now. I believe therapy is a collaborative process and invite ongoing feedback into the therapy room.

Are you struggling with anxiety, stress, and self-doubt in your relationships, work, or life more broadly? Do you care deeply about the people in your life, but your relationships could be better? Maybe it's hard to express yourself or trust others. Maybe the thought of conflict or upsetting someone makes you feel ill. Do you have big goals and dreams, but struggle to handle setbacks and disappointments along the way? Perhaps you wonder if you're being too hard on yourself...or not hard enough. Right now, you crave some some external perspective on how you're REALLY doing and how to get where you want to go.

There are endless opportunities to improve life when you've got the right support and skills. I currently work with young adults, people in college or graduate school, and adults. Some people I work with identify as more emotional than others, emotionally "sensitive" or intense, feel different in some way, or struggle with feeling out of control of your emotions or your life. Others I work with are looking for someone to run thoughts by to get validation or advice, or have a diagnosis affecting daily functioning and relationships. Whatever your reason for therapy, it makes sense to get a little extra support! Seeing OR + WA clients.

I believe suffering is an aspect of human nature and everyone has the innate ability to tolerate and grow through difficult times, to find meaning and purpose in life. Sometimes we have to enter the paradox of pain to get relief from the pain itself. I have 9 years of experience in community clinics and have been intensively trained in CBT and DBT evidenced based treatment modalities. My goal is to help plant seeds of self-awareness to propel perspective, introspection, agency and self-fulfillment. I tailor client-centered relational and behavioral skill building techniques. I work best with folks who are motivated and intentional.

In most cases, our deepest wounds have relational origins. Despite our attempts to cope with these hurts, oftentimes the very solutions we seek become wounds of their own, patterns that draw us further from the sources of our suffering and leave us feeling hopeless and confused. As a psychoanalytic psychotherapist, my aim is to create a safe and confidential relationship where, in time, the hurt can be found and even transformed. Whether you are seeking a brief or more in-depth treatment, from the beginning we would work collaboratively on a treatment plan sensitive to your unique situation and goals.

Life, relationships, even moments, can be hard. It is often difficult to talk about what is going on inside, to find footing when it seems your life is crumbling. I will hold space for you, all yours, a hard thing to find in real life, and provide an opportunity for you to connect more deeply with yourself, heal and recover. We will work collaboratively to develop a healthier, happier you. This creates a natural domino effect into your life. You will learn skills, insight, see the negative dynamics that effect you consciously and unconsciously. This allows you to change, to integrate all the hurt pieces of you into a healthy whole.

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?

In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?

The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?

An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?

It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?

HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?

A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?

Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?

Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?

Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer benefit plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy.
