I firmly believe that getting positive results in therapy relies heavily on the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client.
I utilize a wide range of clinical skills to help clients reduce their distress and increase their overall well being. I aspire to create a unique therapeutic approach for each client, based on their needs, personal struggles and goals. Core tenets of my practice are empathy, validation, support and interpersonal feedback. Additionally, I strive to provide culturally competent care. I regularly attend professional seminars to increase my awareness regarding issues related to systems of oppression and privilege.

It's important you feel that your therapist is a "good fit" as the therapeutic relationship depends on feeling safe.
Are you struggling to live the life you want? Do you keep finding yourself in the same place without knowing how to change? Current situations & events can trigger old pain & trauma which can be confusing & negatively impact relationships. They can also lead to creating misguided stories that you tell yourself & that keep you anxious or in fight/flight states. We sometimes need help untangling & making sense of our experiences &/or trauma in life in order to thrive. Through non-judgmental warmth, compassion & self-reflection, we re-wire old thoughts and behaviors and help you live a more authentic life.

Whether we're struggling with anxiety, overthinking a career pivot or grappling with self-destructive relationship patterns, this work is about changing our relationship with the noise in heads so we can live with more authenticity and freedom. Through a hybrid of therapeutic and coaching interventions I work with clients to alchemize original wounds into assets, challenge cognitive distortions, identify core confusions and intervene on unconscious, fear-based belief systems. No mind hacks, no mantras, just compassionate straight-talk that will demand your grit, your courage, and most likely a sense of humor.

Hello, I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families I specialize in treating anxiety and depression. I have experience working with LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities. I also enjoy working with teenage and younger clients. I see many people who are going through life transitions. When one is going through grief and loss, education challenges, relationship difficulties, a new family member, pain or illness, it can be particularly difficult to cope and particularly beneficial to be in therapy to work through these issues with an unbiased ear. I also specialize in working with individuals who have struggles with chronic pain.

Therapy can offer hope in the midst of depression, anxiety, trauma, stressful challenges in work, relationships, health, or other arenas of life. It can also help us respond thoughtfully and creatively rather than anxiously or destructively. I am a firm believer in learning to be open towards yourself, your relationships, and life transitions. This is a more powerful motivator than mentally beating yourself up. We'll work together to identify strengths you can use towards making important life changes, and to build coping skills to deal with difficult emotions, trust, relationship issues, and negative thoughts you might have about yourself.

These experiences, in conjunction with a well grounded clinical knowledge base, and my own inner work, have enriched my understanding of the nature of mind, related emotions, and their relationship to life and life experiences.
Life and living only exist in the present moment. Our untrained mind often causes us suffering when it dwells on past experiences, or future fears, clouding this moment where living actually occures. Depression, anxiety, our beliefs about our selves and others, all stem from these unnecessary thoughts and their related emotions. Our mind must come to realize that it is the cause of its own unhappiness. Then whatever we experience in life is no longer overwhelming. I have an appreciation and grounding in western oriented psychodynamics enriched with an eastern psychological and Spiritual perspective. Please visit my website: kennethandert.com

Accepting new clients as of 10/29/24. I believe you and your relationships are too important to put off therapy. Maybe it’s that reoccurring fight leaving you stuck, unseen, or feeling hopeless in your relationship? Or you are ready to address the anxiety, negative thoughts, or loss of motivation that's been accepted as your new normal. Maybe what previously worked feels dull in this season of life and you want to see and feel progress again. I utilize an integrative approach centered on evidence-based practices such as Emotionally Focused Therapy, ACT, Narrative, and others to help you accomplish your desired outcome in therapy

I find couples work interesting and gratifying because of my interest in individual development and change, the system of the couple, and how each, the two individuals, and the relationship, influence each other.
I am interested in helping people with primary attachment issues. I work with couples dealing directly with their attachment problems with each other. I work with individuals who are looking internally to figure out their obstacles to developing intimate partnerships. In both my individual and couples work I usually explore the family of origin as one source of understanding and improving love relationships. My style is collaborative and exploratory while I maintain a hopefully transparent point of view. I look at psychotherapy as an unusual conversation where both people are focused on one to help that person grow and change.

Most of my work has focused on anxiety, depression, relationship issues, life transitions, and self-esteem building.
Looking for the right therapist for you can be the start of something great, but it can also feel a little overwhelming. At the heart of my practice is your comfort. When you begin talking with someone who really listens, wants to understand your point of view, and wants to not only help you, but learn from you, real growth can begin to happen. Sometimes old patterns and the things we have been through can make us feel stuck. I'm here to help you get unstuck and get where you want to be.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
