My areas of focus are incarceration, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, and women's issues.
Are you looking for someone that you can connect with and share your thoughts and talk about your day to day stressors? Do you want a safe space where you are free to be you without judgement? Do you have internalized feelings or issues that you keep inside and avoid sharing with others? Are you having feelings of depression, anxiety, loneliness, isolation, a fear of being judged, perceived as different, or misunderstood? Are you open to learning where these challenges come from and ways of coping with them? Do you want to put in the effort to see the growth ?

Updated 8/6/24: Accepting new clients. - By deciding to engage in therapy you have already made a commitment to bettering yourself and initiating change. Let’s celebrate that! Taking a meaningful look at our day-to-day lives and pasts can be daunting-let’s create a tender and safe atmosphere to wade through this process together. Too often, our mental health challenges are reduced to diagnosis, labels, and text-book definitions that don’t quite fit—my approach departs from these systems and is more rooted in holistic and relational healing.

Facing our mental health head on can feel like the most intimidating and impossible task; it gets tough when we decide to take that hard, honest look at ourselves in the mirror. My philosophy as your therapist is that it’s my job to help you learn the tools necessary to achieve your healing and recovery goals.

I have found that no single therapy works for everyone during my 20 years of treating trauma, depression, anxiety, phobias as well as doing marital therapy. While trained in traditional therapy, I have integrated mind-body therapies where appropriate since research indicates symptoms are stored in the body as well as in the mind. EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Tappas Accupressure Technique, Advanced Integrative Therapy, Thought Field Therapy, the Emotional Freedom Technique, and Healing from the Body Level Up are a few modalities I use along with cognitive restructuring and psycho-education. I work with each client to determine goals and treatment plans.

I entered the mental health field based on my own life-changing experience when I went through therapy to address the impact of childhood traumas.  With the help of my counselors my life transformed from hopeless and stuck to empowered and whole.  I had no idea this kind of transformation was even possible.  Now, it is my turn to give back and walk alongside those who choose the difficult path of recovery.  I won't have your answers since your story and personality are unique.  What I do have is familiarity with the path, faith in your ability to find your answers, and professional experience guiding individuals toward wholeness.

Navigating today’s world as a young person can be overwhelming. The challenges of navigating relationships, school, values and more have only intensified in the wake of the global pandemic. As a parent, it can be heartbreaking to watch your child struggle without knowing where to turn for support. With over 10 years of experience working with youth in schools, I understand what teens and young adults face—and I’m here to help. I work closely with young people to explore what’s happening in their lives, helping them develop positive coping skills, resilience, and the perseverance to navigate tough times.

I am an Asian-American therapist seeking to create a healing and culturally affirming environment for Children, Teens, and Young Adults. Life as a POC can be confusing to navigate as we can have traditions, values, and obligations that oppose our American cultural upbringing. This therapeutic space will be a safe container for those looking to explore their identity, purpose, and authenticity.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
