Please Note: The only type of OHP that I am able to take is CareOregon. If you are struggling with the impacts of trauma, abuse, or loss (no matter how far in the past), there is hope. Using a trauma-informed, client-centered, and strengths-based approach to counseling, we will create a safe space for collaborative work and healing. We can also use mindfulness, somatic, and creative therapies if you feel drawn to that kind of work. I have particular experience working with people who have been impacted by sexual trauma; PTSD that feels out of control; family/ relationship issues; attachment wounding; and significant loss.

Do you feel trapped by circumstances beyond your control? Are you unable to escape negative thoughts? Have you forgotten why you made the decisions that led you to this moment? Talk therapy can offer a way forward. Therapy can be a safe space to catch your breath, to talk out ideas that feel strange or risky, and to devise a new strategy for reconnecting with your best self. I'll do my best to help no matter what you're facing but right now I'm especially enthusiastic about working with young adults and professionals coping with ADHD, men's issues, relationship issues, bipolar disorder, depression, anger management or anxiety.

Grief is involved in any life change, whether that change is welcome or unwelcome, abrupt or expected. Grief is part of being human, yet our society struggles to acknowledge and support it. You might arrive grieving the death of a family member or friend, the end of a relationship, or even anxiety or depression that only seems to grow. Perhaps you are grieving previous life events you wish had never happened, or the life you lived before the pandemic. My expertise is in providing a place for your grief to land—a place for you to not have to be ok. And in doing this, I help people process grief so it does not define their lives.

While I work with a wide range of clients and issues, I have extensive experience treating anxiety/mood disorders, as well as relationship conflict, sex/sexuality.
I would describe my approach to therapy as mindfulness/self-compassion-based. I treat a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, addictions, interpersonal issues (i.e. couples counseling), psycho-spiritual/religious conflicts and abuse, sexuality, and pragmatic life-coaching, to name a few. I have extensive experience working with the LGBTQ community, some "out," others not; some religious, others not. I use elements of CBT, ACT, DBT and other models. I also explore with my clients deeper-seated issues, including exploring our "shadows", blindspots and the roots of addiction and shame. I am licensed in OR and WA.

My practice is affirming of all relationship types, sexual orientations, religions/spirituality, body types, kink identity/lifestyles, races, ethnicity, cultures, gender representations and identities, ages, documentation statuses, socio-economic statuses, education, and those who feel all of these labels are oppressive and don't identify with any of them.
Hello and Welcome! My name is Meghan (She/They). I work with folks seeking freedom and relief from trauma, anxiety, depression, and whatever else is getting in the way of you living the life you want. I've worked with folks exploring personality, identity, sexuality, relationships, motivation, body image, the multitude of gender representations, fear of self or others, and exploration of identity. I believe people become who they are in relation to others. Understanding yourself as a person, parent, child, friend, partner, or any other identity is key to happiness and well-being. I'm happy to discuss more in a consultation.

In addition to knowledge of individual therapy, relationship issues and family dynamics, I have over 40 years of experience in meditation practices and additional experience working with The Spiritual Emergence Network and spiritual seekers.
It may not be easy to begin seeing a therapist, particularly if you are dealing with a difficult transition, relationship problem, grief, anxiety or depression. I strive to offer a safe, accepting, and respectful environment for addressing your issues. I will support you in discovering your own strengths, wisdom and inner resources and can offer tools for coping, growth and change, learned through over 20 years of clinical practice, and my own life experience. I believe in a collaborative process in which we can identify your goals, work through challenges, and create a plan for change.

Building our relationship on a basis of shared respect and consent is a huge part of my practice.
Thanks for taking a moment to consider my practice. If you're seeking therapy, I applaud you! Seeking support to navigate chaotic moments in life is not easy and is also a wonderful gift to give your self. Therapy has been an instrumental support throughout my life since I was a teenager. Through my journey I've found healing and medicine in talk therapy, yoga, herbalism, intuitive readings, nature immersion and countless writings by Black feminist authors (Alexis Pauline Gumbs, Audre Lorde, Prentice Hemphill). I'd like to offer you a space to bring both your wins and your struggles, knowing you'll receive compassionate care.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
