Do you often feel as if you're "hustling for your worthiness"? Together we can work to find your voice and use it effectively to self-advocate, set healthy boundaries, and challenge internalized narratives of shame and people-pleasing that have left you stuck, exhausted, and lonely. I work collaboratively with teens and adults who are experiencing the effects of trauma, anxiety, ADHD, life transitions, relationship issues, and navigating intersectional identities.

We are all biologically wired to seek connection, love, belonging, and to be understood. Our internal messaging often tells us we are not good enough to receive these things because of the dominant culture we are in. In therapy, we can work together toward the belief that you are enough. Here, LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies will find a safe and nonjudgmental space to explore who you are, realize your full potential, find meaning, and increase serenity and joy.

Finding a therapist can be a difficult task; actually calling one is even harder. When I am struggling with something I find myself irritable, directionless, and without energy (or too much nervous energy) a difficult time to build new relationships. It is my hope that stepping into my office might feel like finding an oasis; a welcoming place where you can put down your burdens, relax, and see what you can unpack or unload. I engage with people with acceptance and curiosity. I find things I like and inspiration in conversations. I am constantly amazed by people’s creativity, perspective, and desire to connect in a personal ways.

I enjoy working with motivated individuals who want to see change. I work with both individuals and couples/Poly/CNM who are navigating challenges in their lives or their relationships. Maybe you've found yourself feeling disconnected from your partner(s) or having the same fight over and over again. Or maybe you feel like something isn't working in your life but you just can't put your finger on it. I love helping clients explore where they're stuck and collaborate with them to find creative solutions.

I want to create a judgment-free space where your unique story is cherished, perfections are embraced, and your journey is the center of our work. My commitment is to use warmth, compassion, and understanding to help unravel the narratives we all weave about how we "should" navigate life. It's about your authenticity, vulnerability, and rawness. In the therapeutic space, perfection is neither expected nor sought. It's a comforting space for the beautiful messiness of your experiences, where words don't need to be flawless, imperfections are treated as unique threads in your story, and self-discovery unfolds at your pace.

Do you feel exhausted keeping it all together? Or maybe like your brain has a hamster wheel spinning through responsibilities, forgotten tasks, and “should-dos,” without the energy to do them? Are you scrambling to cover up dropped responsibilities? Does the feeling of shame and overwhelm make you want to quit, but slowing down feels impossible? Together, we can find space to balance the spinning plates and feel like you don’t have to be on high alert for something crashing down. We can repair dropped plates—relationships, school, work, parenting, or other important things—even if it feels like they can’t be repaired today.

I believe there comes a time in most people's lives when it's helpful to have a supportive person to guide them through challenges they may be experiencing. It takes strength and courage to decide to begin therapy. If this is something you are considering for your child then you should be commended! As a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist, I engaged in Synergetic Play Therapy (TM), "a research-informed model of play therapy blending the therapeutic power of play with nervous system regulation, interpersonal neurobiology, physics, attachment, mindfulness, and therapist authenticity." - Lisa Dion, creator of Synergetic Play Therapy

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
