With 25 years experience, I have learned many ways to help clients navigate life's inevitable challenges. When working together, the goal is to facilitate healing and to build a sense of personal empowerment & overall well-being. Therapy is a unique process, as it requires a willingness to look honestly within ourselves, assessing our strengths as well as our limitations. Progress is made as we identify, explore & resolve the difficulties that deplete energy, vitality & connection. Healing happens when sorting through troublesome thoughts, feelings & behaviors... while applying new insights, coping skills & healthier perspectives.

Neuroscience has taught us that "the mind" is encapsulated not only in the head; it exists throughout the whole body. As a holistic practitioner, I am interested in how you can learn to listen to the wisdom and cues of your inner knowing, beyond just what your thoughts tell you, and mend the relationship between mind/body. We all have the ability to grow and transcend from our past and present wounds and turn them into sources of empowerment and healing. I greet identity work, life transitions, and LGBTQ+ issues with positive psychology and feminist therapy frameworks to aim towards your sense of liberation.

You have hopes and desires but feel a lack of motivation, energy, purpose or interest. The things that once brought you relief or joy no longer do or have become the problem. The world no longer feels like a safe place. You know that getting support would be helpful but where do you begin and how do you trust a stranger. You long to find support from a caring, compassionate person to help you learn self acceptance, develop resilience and move forward in your life. For there to be peace on Earth, we must each find peace within. I especially enjoy working with young adults, HSPs, "late bloomers" and creative artists.

Are you ready to take the next step in your journey of self-discovery and healing? Have you done traditional talk therapy that didn’t take you all the way where you wanted to go? Sometimes we can talk about our problems over and over without our body getting the message that the past is in the past. Neurofeedback is a powerful tool that can help you leave your past in the past, build emotional regulation, and increase mental flexibility. I focus on clients with developmental trauma, anxiety, and depression, though I find that neurofeedback can be a game changer for a variety of symptoms.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
