Kids and teens face a challenging and confusing world where terrible things can happen. Sometimes kids need a safe place and a safe person, outside the family, to help them heal, grow and move forward with confidence. Most kids don’t like to sit still and talk about their feelings; they want to be understood and valued while having fun. We’ll keep this in mind as we work together to combine research-based and developmentally appropriate methods like play therapy, sand tray therapy, wilderness therapy and talk therapy to create a personal and intentional counseling process that is engaging, fun and healing.

therapy is some real heavy, vulnerable shit and building a strong therapeutic relationship is at the core of creating a safe space for you to enter into the process. with this in mind, my practice is rooted in transparency, honest feedback, and is trauma-informed. i will openly share my process with you & what might be beneficial to try. i will inform you of when i am about to ask questions intended feel “spicy” and/or are likely to illicit strong internal response (which can sometimes get real uncomfortable real quick). for these reasons, i tend to align well with folx who prefer a direct, purposefully challenging approach.

I believe that therapy begins with hope. This means that change is possible and you are not stuck. I desire to both help you maintain hope and support the change process. I believe that you are capable, resilient, and worthy. This means that I operate from a strengths-based and solution-focused perspective. While it is helpful to determine the true challenge, we often tend to fixate on problems that we lose sight of the strengths and possible solutions that can help us navigate trials life brings. This also means that I desire to understand and connect with you in a way that helps you see yourself as capable and worthy.

If you are looking for an experienced, warm and inviting therapist to support you, I welcome people of all backgrounds with all sorts of issues. In the early years of my 26-year career as an LCSW, I founded, developed, and operated a camp for grieving children. I've also worked extensively with terminal illness and end of life issues and everything in between. I also have expertise with and welcome the LBGTQ+ community, parenting, family issues, and am ready to support you with an open, non-judgmental space for healing.
