Life, without any major disruptions, is stressful enough; however almost everyone experiences times that are especially difficult. Oftentimes, people find themselves getting lost, anxious, or frustrated during these times, and can develop problematic ways of coping because they don't know what else to do. This is understandable. When a person is in emotional pain, it is hard to be rational and think of a good solution. I'd like to help.
Through therapy, you can get caring support and new solutions to problems that will help you build the fulfilling life you deserve- where a sense of peace is possible.

I believe that it is important to find a therapist that is a good fit for you. There are many wonderful therapists, but it is important for you to feel that you are understood, supported, and sometimes gently challenged by your therapist.
I will ask you to identify what you want help with or what you are feeling distress around and then will actively work with you toward your goals.

We all have moments of change in our lives that take us through ups and downs. Sometimes we can get stuck in understanding what is happening and knowing how to move forward. Living with challenging transitions is one of those moments when having someone to talk to, who truly understands from personal experience, makes the difference. I am a licensed counselor who through a social justice lens, will listen to all your frustrations with loved ones, friends, co-workers, and our misinformed society.

I have experience working with children and youth experiencing difficulty regulating emotions, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, peer difficulties, school issues, family changes, grief, loss, trauma, and post-adoption challenges.
I believe there comes a time in most people's lives when it's helpful to have a supportive person to guide them through challenges they may be experiencing. It takes strength and courage to decide to begin therapy. If this is something you are considering for your child then you should be commended! As a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist, I engaged in Synergetic Play Therapy (TM), "a research-informed model of play therapy blending the therapeutic power of play with nervous system regulation, interpersonal neurobiology, physics, attachment, mindfulness, and therapist authenticity." - Lisa Dion, creator of Synergetic Play Therapy

I work with individuals and couples who are adjusting to a change in their life or find themselves "stuck" in patterns of behaviors or moods that disturb them. Examples include relationship stress, anxiety, depression, family of origin issues and addiction/abuse concerns. Some times this is a result of a loss of a loved one, a change in relationship status or employment status. Sometimes the cause is not apparent.

I currently work with adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, life transitions, OCD, addiction, relational stress, and trauma.
Are things feeling a little too much right now? Has your "life sucks" playlist been on repeat lately? In our fast-paced society, it can seem "unrealistic" or "weak" to have a space where every aspect of you can exist. We put things under the rug only to find it building up too much. You want a space to sort all these things out that is non-judgemental and warm. You want to get back to being you again, however that may look. You want to feel more grounded in your ability to handle the waves of life.

Depression, anxiety, and anger can easily overwhelm us when we feel stuck between accepting our problems and changing them. I teach clients practical skills that help them find the balance between these two seemingly opposing realities. I believe people are already doing the best they can, and that we all need extra support at times to get “unstuck.” I view my clients as the experts in their own lives; my role is to collaborate with them to find more effective solutions to their problems. I will work with you to create a clear path towards creating the life you want to live.

Unique and challenging situations arise in partnership when complicating factors like giftedness, high sensitivity levels, childhood abuse memories, anxiety, infidelity, depression, social anxiety or bipolar disorder apply to one or both members.
A healthy life is full of transformation, change and growth. Sometimes the normal "growing pains" are accompanied by isolation, depression, anxiety and real loss.
I welcome people who have the courage to seek another view point, to break the isolation and find the hidden beauty of transformation, amidst the chaos.

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
