I have been working with clients for years as a life/trauma recovery coach and understand relational and family systems through a trauma-informed lens.
I AM accepting new clients! We all need a safe place and an open non-judgmental environment to express needs and work through issues. Therapy can lead to a deeper understanding of the many aspects of yourself, which will allow you to access your strengths, develop new and healthy perspectives, build important skills, experience emotional healing, and enrich your relationships.

My approach weaves together interventions from evidence based practices, like Internal Family Systems and Nonviolent Communication.
My clients are often those keenly aware of the complex time we live in, and are interested to understand what is keeping them from having the vibrant life they seek. You are doing "all the right things," and yet you continue to feel unfulfilled, anxious - in your relationships, sex life, in your work. You might feel stuck creatively. You feel distant, or at odds with your physical body. You'd like to know your story more fully, to understand how past experiences and cultural conditioning have impacted you, and to give your story voice, so you can express yourself - in relationships, work, art - from a place of deeper authenticity.

I use several approaches, including Internal Family Systems and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, to help clients repair the old wounds holding them back in the present.
It can be hard to shake feelings of anxiety or depression. Maybe strong emotions seem to take over and you don't know why. You may have an inner critic—telling yourself you should be a better parent, spouse, friend, etc. Perhaps you feel you function really well in some areas of life and struggle in others. You might even feel like you are fighting yourself at times. All kinds of things can leave you feeling stuck or unsettled, and I have a feeling you're working too hard to feel so beat up! Imagine how it could be to feel more capable, hopeful, open and connected to your life. This is the kind of work I love to do with my clients!

I primarily use EMDR along with mindfulness techniques, cognitive behavioral therapy and components of internal family systems.
Welcome. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and for taking time to care for yourself. Take a deep breath, seeking therapy services is brave so if this is as far as you go, well done- but I do hope you choose to stay! Therapy can be hard work so I'm not afraid to bring a touch of humor and a little bit of sass to keep things moving!

Simply put, most of the time individuals coming to therapy know what the problem is, and what needs to be done. The therapy process is about addressing the barriers to doing what you need to do, to have the life you want. Individuals who come to see me are looking to make needed changes in their life, but want assistance achieving it. The barriers can include trauma, beliefs, attitudes, habits, or a myriad of other things that get in the way of change. It's about overcoming the barriers so you can live a meaningful and fulfilling life.

Some of the modalities you’ll see in session with me include traditional talk therapy (in the form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, primarily) while others dive into resources beyond what words can offer (utilizing tools such as mindfulness skills, internal family systems/parts work, etc.
I am passionate about working with people just like you; those looking for help. Though I work with clients of all backgrounds, I attest to the Christian faith and have a deep passion for working with Christian individuals who are looking to integrate their spirituality into their healing journey. I believe and have found that deep healing work is best achieved when we invite the spirit into (and even leading) the process. I also have expertise in working with individuals looking to recover from relational abuse, be that familial, work related, or from a romantic partner.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
