I also work with those seeking guidance in making career and/or college decisions.
I approach counseling as a facilitator of growth and holistic health. I believe in order for clients to have a strong state of mental health they need to address not only their psychological health, but also their physical and spiritual health. I enjoy working with children, adolescents and adults.

Life can be overwhelming and challenging at times, often leaving us lost or stuck as to how to move forward. My hope is to build a therapeutic relationship to understand your unique needs so that I can best support you in moving towards your desired goals. My job is to help you recognize the negative thinking patterns or behaviors that keep you stuck. Many of these challenges can cause the self-sabotaging behaviors leading to addiction or symptoms that interfere with reaching your goals. Addiction, trauma and shame often go hand in hand increasing the difficulty people have in navigating the challenges of life.

Prior to NYU, I enjoyed a 25-year career in various HR leadership roles where I discovered an aptitude for aiding individuals and groups to improve themselves and their relationships.
Hello! "The universe is change; our life is what our thoughts make it." This quote from Marcus Aurelius is over 1800 years old but it's still true today: Your thoughts are making your life and change is guaranteed. If you need someone to help you explore your thoughts, navigate through change, and emerge stronger on the other side, I've a career's worth of experience doing just that. I specialize in relationships, careers, anxiety, depression, chronic & autoimmune disease, men's issues, and death & dying. I bring an integrative, goal-oriented approach to help you achieve the life you envision.

In today's fast-paced world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, stressed, or uncertain. Anxiety can weigh you down, turning everyday tasks into mountains. Depression may leave you feeling disconnected, draining your energy and joy. Addiction, too, can take hold, impacting every part of your life and making it hard to feel in control. On top of this, trauma, sexuality, and sexual health issues can add layers of complexity to your emotional well-being, leaving you feeling isolated or confused. I have worked extensively with teens, adults and executives and others in high pressure jobs on these issues.

Life is so mysterious. We don't choose to be born, we don't choose our parents or our childhood, we don't choose those experiences that become our greatest pains. And yet, it is through these pains that we develop great compassion, strength, and wisdom. It is not despite of these challenges that we grow; it is through them that we transform. I came to these conclusions through both experience and study, and I would love to assist the curious, those that don't quite fit in, those that know that there is more to life than status, and those that want to crack open their shell.

Simply put, most of the time individuals coming to therapy know what the problem is, and what needs to be done. The therapy process is about addressing the barriers to doing what you need to do, to have the life you want. Individuals who come to see me are looking to make needed changes in their life, but want assistance achieving it. The barriers can include trauma, beliefs, attitudes, habits, or a myriad of other things that get in the way of change. It's about overcoming the barriers so you can live a meaningful and fulfilling life.

How do I know if I need career counseling?

Determining whether a career counselor is needed involves assessing one's current career and identifying what changes can be made to improve one's overall quality of life. In particular, feelings of loss of motivation, fatigue, anxiety, depression, procrastination, or ongoing levels of high stress can all be indicative of a need for career-related counseling. In addition, individuals changing jobs may want the decision-making support or self-reflection opportunities provided by a career counselor.

Who can benefit from career counseling?

Anyone can benefit from the self-reflection, skill development, and stress management techniques that career counseling can provide. However, individuals who are feeling overwhelmed or burnt out with their current job and individuals considering a major career change may particularly benefit from career counseling to improve their wellbeing. Additionally, individuals who are facing issues in their current job, such as coworker relationship challenges or not meeting performance goals, may benefit from the perspective that a career counselor can provide. College-age or young professionals may also uniquely benefit from career counseling as they make key decisions surrounding education and job training that will impact their career trajectory.

How long does career counseling typically last?

The length of career counseling can vary greatly depending on the needs of the individual and what type of support they are seeking. Career coaching or advising services—which serve clients in a specific, goal-oriented capacity—often last for a shorter duration and are sometimes only a single session or a few sessions in length. In contrast, career counseling as part of a more integrative therapeutic relationship with a counselor may last longer, particularly if the issues faced by the client are longstanding and/or more complex in nature; in such cases, individuals may expect therapy to last multiple months or longer.

How to prepare for career counseling?

Clients can prepare for career counseling sessions by outlining the specific topics they would like to address with the counselor, such as current job challenges or hopes for the future of their career. Compiling one's thoughts on such topics often requires reflection on one's career and future goals, which in itself can be beneficial for session preparation. Clients may also want to put together a list of questions they would like to ask the counselor, particularly if the career counselor they are seeing has particular expertise in a given career area. Conducting research into potential future jobs, training opportunities, or support resources in one's area may also help clients prepare for career counseling by providing them with a background of what resources are available in their area.
