I have been a licensed counselor since 1998. Areas of experience include working with children, adolescents and adults focusing on rebuilding and/or developing the ability to navigate life's challenges. I believe that all human beings are spiritual, biological and emotional and that healing comes from balancing these aspects of self. I use traditional talk therapies such as Contextual Family Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also have pursued certification programs in Hypnotherapy, Neurolinguistic Programing, Professional Life Coaching and Neurobiofeedback as well as other continuing education courses required by NBCC and Oregon.

As a child development expert, I provide parent consultation, dyadic assessment, and parent coaching to help adults manage and resolve their children’s behavioral issues. I work closely with caregivers to provide insight into children’s behaviors, developmental needs, and neurobiological processes. I help clients to develop strategies for use at home and school, and my work is always grounded in the latest research from the fields of neurobiology and interpersonal neurobiology. I also consult with school staff on behalf of the children I serve.

With over a decade of experience in the mental health field, my experience is well rounded. My opportunities have allowed me the privilege to help persons of all backgrounds, ages, races and cultures. I believe with adequate support & resources all persons have the power, within them, to make changes needed for life satisfaction. Originally from Mexico I know all to well how life can present barriers. I believe, my experiences as an immigrant, a victim of trauma, a single parent and divorcee are at the root of my skills as a helper.

I am moving to a cash pay only practice due to the increased issues around billing. Together we will create a warm, compassionate, and understanding environment. The goal is for our time together to be in the no judgment zone by gaining skills in radical acceptance. I have developed a unique approach through building the therapeutic relationship to work with individuals struggling with stress, relationships, depression, anxiety, trauma response, and self- harm. My clinical experience, calm demeanor, and aspiration for trust, help build meaningful relationships with clients through exploration of life choices.

Currently Not Accepting New Clients - I counsel individuals to assist them in working through life's challenges, whether it be anxiety, depression, trauma or relational and communication concerns. My modalities of treatment include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Person Centered Therapy. These are evidenced based treatments that teach clients mindfulness, regulate emotions, build distress tolerance and interpersonal skills.

Some seasons of life are more difficult than others; through these difficult times I look to honor your story, while valuing who you are. My primary specialty is grief and loss counseling, where I offer safety, warmth and empathy to aid you in the healing process. I also love working with college students, and specialize in concerns surrounding identity development. I work with clients ages 24-50 and have experience with depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, childhood abuse, trauma, life transitions, lack of confidence, perfectionism or stress-management. I am also a trained EMDR therapist.

I am currently welcoming new clients, both individuals and couples. Going to a counselor or therapist when you are feeling sad, anxious, overwhelmed, depressed, or simply out of sorts should be as normal as going to the doctor when you have the flu. I see myself partnering with you in a therapeutic relationship as guide and counselor, providing empathy and compassion as we explore issues and concerns, together, along the way. My approach is holistic, based upon the impact of the mind-body connection on well-being. My work background includes ten years as a teacher and twelve years as a hospice medical social worker.

I am a Licensed Clinical Counselor with the National Christian Counselors Association. I graduated with honors from Cornerstone University, Lake Charles La. with a PhD in Clinical Christian Counseling and a minor in Education.I am certified in: Marriage and Family; Crisis and Abuse; Domestic Violence and Intervention; Substance Abuse and Addiction; and Death and Grief. I use Cognitive,Temperament and Logo therapies. I work on a cash and card basis. FSA and HSA cards honored.
