I prefer working with women ages 18-55, who are motivated, open, introspective, consistent and curious about themselves. I work best treating disordered eating, negative body image, relationship issues and identity building. I prefer Telehealth and working with individuals, and couples. Perhaps the greatest benefit to reaching out to any therapist is the beginning of a journey to self-discovery and empowerment. We all know that life offers joys and challenges. Sometimes the challenges, distresses and/or pain becomes overwhelming. Through my personal and professional experiences as a former teacher and now LMFT, we can explore together the hidden strengths within you so you can once again appreciate the person inside you. It is through the door of awareness and understanding that change takes place.

It is my belief that success of therapy is a collaborative effort; feeling comfortable with your therapist and you, as the client, taking responsibility to make the changes necessary to meet your goals. Making positive and lasting changes takes both effort and dedication on both our parts.

When relationship challenges arise, it can be more difficult to feel connected, in alignment, and in choice. Most of us are doing our best, but if our strategies aren't effective we can sometimes feel stuck, distressed, or confused. By bringing awareness to our relational patterns in a compassionate and non-judgmental environment, I believe we build capacity to take on our unique challenges as a team with the important people in our life. My goal is to support people to feel greater safety, self worth, regulation, collaboration and alignment in their lives and relationships.

*CURRENT OPENINGS* For the past twelve years, I've worked with clients on a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, childhood trauma, intimate relationship problems, low self-worth, shame, grief, existential/spiritual issues, family dynamics, parenting, men's issues, addiction, OCD, and chronic illness burnout. It is a great honor to witness again and again how hardship, when given the appropriate attention and care, often gives way to something new and beautiful: It can open the door to asking for help. It can lead you to consider making bold changes. It can force you to get serious about what is most important to you.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
