I have been a licensed counselor since 1998. Areas of experience include working with children, adolescents and adults focusing on rebuilding and/or developing the ability to navigate life's challenges. I believe that all human beings are spiritual, biological and emotional and that healing comes from balancing these aspects of self. I use traditional talk therapies such as Contextual Family Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also have pursued certification programs in Hypnotherapy, Neurolinguistic Programing, Professional Life Coaching and Neurobiofeedback as well as other continuing education courses required by NBCC and Oregon.

I believe our capacity to connect, both with ourselves and with those we love is vital to our happiness. When we are in a state of disconnection, we can feel anxious, isolated, empty, and depressed. I get this, and feel its my job to provide a safe place where you can trust, feel respected and cared for, in the process of therapy. I understand its difficult to feel worried, discouraged, and overwhelmed by everyday challenges. We all have suffered in silence, waiting for things to get better, because seeking help may seem too scary....I want to help.

Life is both beautiful and broken at times. You deserve to live full, free, and whole. So often we unintentionally get stuck in patterns we do not understand that affect our view of who we are and our relationships with the people we love the most. I believe we are wired for connection--both broken and restored in the context of relationships. Together we will work toward a healing story with new directions. I have special interests and experience in couples therapy, military family life, betrayal trauma, anxiety, grief, and spiritual hurts and questions.

From time to time, the complexity of life demands something that overwhelms our usual coping strategies. These challenges can sometimes be brought on by relationships, careers, family, or health. Or perhaps it’s something more connected to our core understanding of the world around us. The meaning we've made from life's past events serves as a template for how we will process each new experience in the future. My goal is to help facilitate an insight-oriented process of understanding why we feel the way we do and provide a source of strength and a healthy curiosity to lead to a better tomorrow.

I view my role to be as a guide in the journey of recovering access to our inherent capacity for health and psychological wholeness. My approach to counseling is humanistic and depth-oriented; our past informs, but need not limit our present lives. I specialize in IFS (Internal Family Systems) to help clients get acquainted with parts of themselves and reconcile inner tensions. At times I may utilize art-based techniques to provide clients with other languages with which to communicate, as well as resourcing techniques from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Solution-Focused approaches to mobilize individual and family strengths.

My ideal client is someone who is willing to work, at whatever level that may be for them. It is important to celebrate and build on small successes. Change can be scary. The idea of therapy can be terrifying for some, and a relief for others. If you are reading through this, it means you are likely searching for something. I believe that in therapy a space is created to help you to work on your goals in an environment that is supportive and safe. While therapy is not an end all, it helps you to discover more about yourself and the interactions you have in your daily life. Therapy is what you make it.

Are you feeling stuck, weighed down by stress and the changes you've had to navigate in your life? You may have thought that it would turn around, and your problems would just go away. But they didn't, and you're wondering if you can find peace. Depression, anxiety, and relationship issues can be a heavy burden to carry, but you don't have to walk through this alone. As your counselor, I will listen, give support to help you through these times, and work with you to make the changes you need to bring healing to your life.

You deserve to feel heard and accepted. My goal is to help you experience a greater sense of well-being and contentment in your life. What I enjoy most about counseling is having the privilege of sharing authentic connections with people who want to feel better and see their lives improved. I work with individual adults and have a special interest in helping women who are in life transition. Many clients come to me seeking help for grief and loss, depression, anxiety, issues with adult children, family cutoffs, trauma, early attachment and self-esteem issues, and more.

My practice is somatic, attachment-based, relational, and trauma-informed, recognizing that people are part of a complex network encompassing their beliefs, history, culture, family, relationships, and physical environment.
I work with individuals and couples who seek to heal trauma, improve communication, and learn from their emotions through body-based (somatic) practices. If you're feeling anxious, depressed, or isolated without understanding how your body's sensations and emotions can help lead you to greater ease, you are not alone. Our culture has taught us to ignore our bodies rather than listen to them. I specialize in a somatic approach, which complements my other focus areas such as ecotherapy, attachment, parts work, psychedelic integration, and couples therapy.

I enjoy working with those feeling skeptical, new to therapy, working through their identities, or just needing direction. Let's start!

It can be different. I believe in helping individuals on their paths toward flourishing relationships and insightful introspection. I am a first-generation Latino with white privilege. I grew up in a low-socioeconomic neighborhood. I began this journey with a desire for couples to build healthy foundations together, and for children to find their voice in the world around them. I utilize an attachment-based approach that emphasizes change occurring in the therapy room with an exploration of core emotions at the root. You can expect me to show up as the unique me because I value you bringing your unique self.

I combine Eastern mindfulness with Western developmental, neurobiological and attachment-based approaches that I use to help my clients address root causes of emotional issues and cultivate their unique attributes and strengths.
In relationship work, I use PACT, to help navigate struggles with communication, sex and intimacy, big life transitions, and infidelity, moving you towards a secure functioning relationship. My goal is to help you become experts in reading each other's road maps. In individual work, I address sexual trauma, low self esteem, self criticism, depression and anxiety. Using mindfulness, we will bring awareness to patterns that prevent you from reaching your goals and creating supportive, meaningful relationships. By making slight shifts in old habits, you will begin to see your inner and outer world unfold.

My approach is rooted in a person-centered, trauma-informed, and attachment-based perspective, with an emphasis on harm reduction, which focuses on collaboration between therapist & client.
My unique blend of life experiences and professional education gives me a distinct outlook on the complexities surrounding identity, mental health, and resilience. I hold a special interest in aiding individuals grappling with attachment traumas, particularly those exploring non-monogamous relationships. The ideal client for me is someone conscious of their challenges and in search of a therapist willing to accompany them on the sometimes uncomfortable journey towards healing and self-discovery, focusing on building healthy attachments and reevaluating personal beliefs and life narratives.

I work with clients who are suffering from anxiety and depression, who are experiencing PTSD or are looking to process and heal from trauma. I also work with individuals who are struggling with their self esteem concerns. Supporting young adults through life transitions is something that I have experience with and deeply enjoy! I also enjoy working with people exploring anti-oppressive relationship structures that are queer, polyamorous, or kink friendly.

All therapy modalities I draw from are attachment-based and trauma informed therapies.
I work with a variety of issues- trauma, attachment issues, sexual challenges, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, life transitions, LGBTQ+, and more. With individuals, I draw primarily on AEDP and ISTDP- two compassionate, deep, and relational psychodynamic approaches designed to create lasting change. I am actively receiving training in both, along with consultations in order to provide high quality therapy to all my clients. I work with couples and have done training in Emotional Focused Therapy for Couples and sex therapy (ATSIP Level 1). I am currently doing trainings in ISTDP for Couples and in the Developmental Model.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
