I am certified in Relational Life Therapy and studied Internal Family Systems.
Relationships matter. What would it be like if you had the closeness you've been missing with your spouse, partner, or loved one? What if developing a greater awareness of your thoughts, emotions and behaviors could benefit, rather than overwhelm, you? What if you could resolve conflict effectively? Whether you come to therapy alone or with someone else, you can learn skills that help you develop deeper, richer relationships with yourself and those you love.

The theoretical models I draw from include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Informed Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
I have been a mental health professional for 25 years, and I have had the privilege to work with adults from a wide variety of backgrounds. My passion is to build a strong trusting relationship with my clients and to help them clarify both their challenges and strengths so that they can find their path to healing. My clients often come into therapy feeling lost or confused, and they are able to learn that with a bit of hard work and perseverance, they can start making progress one step at a time.

I incorporate Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems Therapy and Mindfulness into therapy sessions.
I believe that therapy is a collaborative, sacred space where clients bring themselves and their stories. Using your stories and experiences, our work together will center on your present circumstance as well as your hopes and expectations for the future. As a systems and attachment trained clinician, our work together may involve exploring your patterns in relationships, responses to trauma, what you value, social challenges you experience, and/or your strengths and resources. Our therapeutic relationship is of utmost importance to me. Honesty and vulnerability will be a crucial aspect of our therapeutic relationship.

I use a variety of modalities including IFS, polyvagal theory, Gottman Method (Levels I&II), training in EFT, somatic work & have been studying authentic Tantra for the last 9 years.
Limited Openings: My passion has always been to work with people; and I love what I do! By the time a person/couple comes to me, she/he is usually experiencing discomfort, has run out of ideas, and needs help. My favorite client is the one who recognizes this need and has the desire to make change happen. It takes courage to risk involving an unknown person in such an intimate process; and it takes courage to change. I have almost 30 years experience helping clients with concerns including sex and intimacy, relationship needs, transitional change, personal growth, behavioral difficulties, mood disorders, grief, and others.

I have advanced training in evidence-based practices including CBT, DBT, IFS and Gottman Method relationship counseling.
My goal is to provide a supportive environment and to establish a working relationship with individuals and families seeking strategies to improve their overall sense of well-being and daily functioning. In our first appointment, we will work to identify current concerns and learn skills to help address stress, anxiety, mood, motivation, problem solving and improved communication. Over time, I hope that clients will gain insight into the origins of current issues, develop an array of useful coping and interpersonal skills and more adaptive thought processes to create lasting and positive changes.

I often combine EMDR and IFS with cognitive behavioral strategies.
I am a therapist with over thirty years clinical experience. Over the years I’ve worked with and helped hundreds of individuals and couples through a wide range of difficulties. I’ve learned that there are a lot ways to help, to heal and to promote personal growth, and that no particular approach fits every person or situation. For some individuals problems arise from recent traumatic events, while others struggle with childhood trauma or neglect. Some have disabling anxiety, chronic sleep problems, self-destructive behaviors, self-worth issues or general depression.

With IFS, I help each client identify parts of self that need understanding, compassion, and healing.
Do you feel stuck? Are you ready for change but don't know where to start? With compassion and skill, I look at client issues through the lens of relationships: we impact those around us and they impact us. Using EMDR, IFS, and emotionally focused therapy, I help individuals build a healthy self image and develop coping strategies to handle anxiety and depression. With couples and families, I use restoration therapy to go to the heart of the problem by looking at the emotions that we feel when we are in conflict and define the cycles that we get trapped in.

I work from a relational and consent-based approach, integrating IFS, psychodynamic, DBT, and CBT.
If you have been trying to "get it together" with your relationship with your body, all-consuming anxiety, feeling like you are enough, or chasing life's impossible expectations - you have landed in the right place. My clients are often teens (14+), young adults, and midlife adults who are navigating life challenges related to anxiety, perfectionism, trauma, identity, grief, body image, disordered eating concerns and/or are a part of the lgbtqia+ community. I firmly believe we can't shame ourselves into meaningful change. That's why my approach to therapy utilizes compassion to connect you to your inner wisdom and build self trust.

Together, we'll explore the depths of your mind, body, and spirit using a holistic approach that integrates narrative therapy, EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and existential therapy.
Have you tried talk therapy with some success but feel you are ready for something else? Have you tried to make changes, only to find yourself slipping back into old patterns that you know are not best for you? Have you ever thought, "I know better than this, so why am I still doing it?" Maybe you've even resorted to self-criticism, subconsciously hoping it would push you to improve. These methods are not only unsustainable, but they often end up causing even more harm in the long run. If this sounds like you, and you're ready for something different than talk therapy, you're in the right place.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
