Our lives are not linear, we go through so many big transitions that we sometimes find ourselves feeling a bit adrift. I specialize in working with new mothers navigating the perinatal phase of mental health, which can often throw a curveball we weren’t expecting. There’s no such thing as too much support postpartum, and I’m happy to be part of your team. I care deeply about my clients and want you to feel seen, heard, and understood. If you have found your way to me, I am honored to support you as you navigate your way through the challenges you’re currently facing.

If this sounds familiar, cont act us before the hangover turns into missed work and you lose what makes you unique.
I specialize in supporting BIPOC millennial leaders who have relocated to OR for career advancement and are struggling to navigate a predominately white work. I also assist adult transracial adoptees and their caregivers in navigating the complex emotions of cross adoption. I have helped corporate Attorneys & Executives in carefully assessing whether their problem drinking truly qualifies as a significant issue, if the ultimatum from their significant other is genuinely warranted, and how they can successfully navigate finding a harmonious balance between socializing over drinks with co-workers and dedicating quality time to family.

Veterinarians, physicians, therapists, social service employees, and parents are indispensable as caretakers. However, personal needs, self-care, and personal boundaries are often dismissed by caretakers as indulgences. Caretakers often feel pressured to perform at unachievable levels, making it difficult for them to appreciate their own value. Worse, the relentless imbalance of caring for others without replenishing themselves may lead to personal or professional burnout. Compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, moral distress, feelings of isolation, and difficulties in important relationships may also be present. This must change.

In my opinion, we all need a little therapy now and again! Just like our bodies need regular care and upkeep, and some extra support from a medical professional sometimes, our minds and internal selves need regular attention and support, as well. Therapy has a place for the proactive mental health seekers and those who have pain and vulnerabilities. I enjoy working with people who need support with depression, anxiety, stressful life circumstances and relationship issues, severe mental illness, childhood trauma, sexual abuse, and chronic pain. These are all areas where I've been able to help clients move forward in their lives.

This approach assesses the ways in which relationships shape people’s self-worth, how they inter act with others, how they manage difficult experiences, and their emotional and mental health.
Helping others discover peace, connection, and confidence in the face of turmoil has long been a passion of mine. I believe everyone is capable of growth and healing if they are provided sufficient encouragement, support, and effective strategies. My therapeutic style is conversational and relaxed. I encourage clients to identify and communicate their unique needs and concerns in order to improve interpersonal relationships, manage bothersome emotions or behaviors, and develop healthier family connections. No matter their goal, I strongly believe in the client’s right to decide the focus of therapy.

Are you struggling with feeling disconnected from your life and the things that are important to you? Do you feel lost and unsure of the next steps you'd like to take in your life? It is so difficult when life throws pain and suffering your way, when you feel you have little control amidst chaos and stress, or when you feel stuck in routines and habits that are no longer working for you. It takes courage to recognize when you need a change, to take the steps you need to honor yourself, and to help yourself move forward in ways that are most aligned with how you want to live your life.

No matter how much we try to be happy, sometimes life hits us with curveballs and we get knocked down. While it's a natural reaction to want to distr act ourselves from this pain, often that only makes it worse. I'm here to offer a different path. Together we can process difficult emotions, befriend uncertainty, and find meaning amid life's greatest challenges. My approach is eclectic with an emphasis on psychodynamic techniques. I've also been a Buddhist practitioner for nearly a decade, and occasionally integrate meditation and Eastern philosophy into my work as appropriate.

I’m Dr. Sara Aslan, PhD, I am a licensed Psychologist, I have been providing therapeutic services to individuals, couples, and families since 2010. I am currently providing virtual sessions to adults and adolescents residing in Oregon, Washington, and PSYP ACT states; and in-person sessions in the Portland, Oregon area. I knew learning to adequately treat trauma was something that was imperative to the overall wellbeing of my clients. I began providing trauma

Please, make yourself comfortable with a cozy blanket or a hot cup of tea. Then, let’s talk about you. About how life keeps wearing you out because it’s always one thing after another. But you keep going. Trying so hard to keep everything running smoothly or everyone happy. Meanwhile, you plaster on a smile, barely masking the irritability and emptiness. On really tough days, you begin to wonder if something is wrong with you. It’s a brutal cycle of spirals! Let me help you manage and heal from this!
