I understand it's challenging to find the right fit & to muster up the courage to act on your desire to take care of yourself through therapy.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, anxious or unmotivated right now? Are you trying to get out of a rut of complacency and back to being engaged with your values and sense of self-worth? Wanting to be more proactive about your mental health and self-care? A couple wanting to rebuild a sense of partnership, trust, and connection? I believe people who have been hurt in relationships can also heal through relationships. I believe people having the capacity to work through life's challenges and make long-lasting changes. Whether you're wanting to be preventative or in a crisis, therapy can help!

Your pain is a key that can unlock the door to a better life. As a psychologist, I work to help you turn that key- to help open yourself to the compassion, enjoyment, and fulfillment that are waiting for you. I can help you through life's problems using evidence based therapy, meaning we will practice techniques that science has shown work when people commit to the process. I use a form of cognitive behavioral therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which has been shown by research to be effective not only in reducing suffering but also in increasing life satisfaction.

I primarily implement techniques based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT, TF-CBT, ACT, DBT, CPT) in addition to person-centered approaches, allowing me to meet the clients where they are at as well as provide personalized treatment.
I am a Professional Counselor Registered Associate in the State of Oregon and I am currently working towards my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. I really enjoy working with individuals experiencing chronic health conditions as it allows me to apply my passion for the mind-body connection, trauma-informed care, and person-centered treatment focused on empathy and strength. I also have a strong passion for trauma-informed treatment working with LGBTQIA+ individuals. As a LGBTQIA+ identifying individual, I find it highly rewarding working alongside individuals as they explore their gender and sexuality and processing past traumas.

Pursuing counseling and other wellness measures is a courageous act of self-love.
While counseling is a collaborative process, I have found it to be most successful and more sustaining when it is client-centered and driven. I have the honor to offer you my slice of proficiency. But, you are the expert in your life and it is thus your vision, your goals, and your strengths that will guide our work together. Wellness is a dynamic endeavor and our efforts will extend beyond the therapy room as we collaborate to exchange formal intervention and active treatment with informal support and on-going self-care. Counseling is an incredible guardrail. Yet, you are the pilot of your life's path and I but your humble guide.

My clinical approach is rooted in CBT, ERP, and ACT and is informed by an anti-oppressive/anti-racist and pro queer/LGBTQ+ approach with a focus on my client’s strengths.
Change is possible. A diagnosis of OCD or another anxiety disorder can be scary and confusing. It can feel like your life is defined by dread, worry, fear, and exhaustion. Much of your energy and time are likely spent trying to present to the outside world as “successful” and “having it all together”. Internally, you may feel disconnected from your core self, your innate purpose and potential, and the ability to enjoy simple moments in your life. Anxiety doesn’t have to define who you are as a human. Therapy is courageous work. I’m glad you’re here making this first step.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
