I love working with individuals struggling with faith, depression, anxiety, anger, insecurity, grief and loss, guilt and shame, marriage issues, pride, boundary deficits and life transitions just to name a few.
Are you feeling lost in unworthy thinking...saying to yourself that "you don't matter"? Does regret, disappointment, unwanted thoughts and feelings affect your reality? Is isolating and hiding working for you? Guilt and shame, often unknowingly, leads to anxiety and depression. I believe it's difficult to see the burden and the everyday impact all this "stuff" brings to our lives. Let's talk about change together because "If nothing changes, nothing changes."

I specialize in working with people who experience trauma, grief, anxiety, chronic illness, and sexual abuse.
The first time I sought out a therapist I was feeling overwhelmed and confused. I was afraid to trust a stranger with my most vulnerable feelings. I found a caring, empathetic therapist who earned my trust and helped me in my struggles. As a therapist, I aim to hold a compassionate, caring space and give you safety to explore the hard things in your life, with wise guidance to find new ways to handle the stressors in your past and present. I want you to find resolution, a sense of hopefulness, improved self-confidence, and healthy, productive relationships.

Hello! We all experience difficulties in our lives no matter our age and we can become stuck. Over time, patterns of behavior can develop into relationships with anxiety, depression, feeling overwhelmed, excessive guilt, shame, and addictions that become problematic and interfere with aspirations and goals. You may have tried many ways to get unstuck including self-help, mindfulness, meditation, even therapy, but the feelings and problems persist despite your best intentions and efforts. You may be a highly sensitive person (HSP) and/or an empath. Exploring this aspect of yourself may be what you need to get unstuck.

We all need a safe space to explore whatever issues are holding us back in our goals, whether it's life's usual stressors or something extraordinary that shows up out of the blue. Perhaps you have had a difficult past, and it feels like something is holding you back from moving forward to what is important. It feels good to have someone there to talk to, with unconditional positive regard and an objective point of view, so that we feel heard and validated without judgment as we explore the path we are on in our journey through life.

I can also help you work through grief & loss as well as life transitions.
Teletherapy for now (both locations), and Oregon residents only at this time. Do you feel like you have more than you can handle right now? Sometimes it feels like no one can possibly understand what's going on, and we just need someone to hear us. Being able to process concerns in a safe and neutral place is paramount. I believe compassion and attunement is vital in relationships as well as in the therapeutic relationship. It's helpful to explore and gain understanding of past and present experiences, behaviors, hurts, and wounds. While change can be difficult it can also be deeply rewarding.

I believe each person’s story can be filled with beauty, strength, resilience, and joy despite the presence of loss, hardship, or struggle.
Veterinarians, physicians, therapists, social service employees, and parents are indispensable as caretakers. However, personal needs, self-care, and personal boundaries are often dismissed by caretakers as indulgences. Caretakers often feel pressured to perform at unachievable levels, making it difficult for them to appreciate their own value. Worse, the relentless imbalance of caring for others without replenishing themselves may lead to personal or professional burnout. Compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, moral distress, feelings of isolation, and difficulties in important relationships may also be present. This must change.

I believe that everyone can explore past experiences that can effect relationships, and learn how to develop healthy community. Live a full productive life today, with healthy relationships, is what we all seek. I have a desire to help people overcome obstacles that get in the way of reaching goals and to move from existing to thriving, and most important, a desire to help individuals utilize their internal strengths to address and find answers to life’s difficult questions.

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
