I approach the counseling process from a strengths-based, integrated perspective that promotes collaborative, culturally competent, and trauma-informed care.
It sounds "cliché" but I focus on meeting each client where they are from the very first therapy session. If you aren't sure what your exact issues, needs or goals for therapy are, you are not alone. I work with clients to identify key issues impacting daily life and contributing to their primary symptoms, develop treatment goals and objectives tailored to address the identified issues in a realistic way, and spending sessions working together to facilitate positive change.

I use a variety of effective, evidence based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT, and Trauma Focused Therapy.
“Healing takes courage, and we all have courage, even if we have to dig a little to find it.” I see my life as a mission to help others see themselves in their original beauty, to learn the truth about who they are so they can be set free, to assist them in opening to their own unique destiny, and to work through beliefs and behaviors that keep them trapped in old ways of being. This is work I have had to do on myself, and still continue to do. I believe in using a holistic approach, which addresses every level of our being - the body, emotions, mind, and spirit.

I also am interested in the ways in which trauma shows up in the body and how to identify and regulate responses.
My work in mental wellness is guided by the belief that all humans have the ability to heal when they have the tools and safe space to do so. My hope is to provide that space where folks can show up as their authentic self, free from fear of judgment. I believe that we are shaped by our experiences and our environments, and my goal in this work is to support people in investigating and making meaning of their stories and their contexts with compassion.

We can help you understand the following various responses to traumatic past: addiction in its many forms, trouble focusing/concentrating or difficulty eating, sleeping or remaining hygienic or help you understand behaviors related to control or self-esteem, risky behaviors (cutting, burning), or thoughts of or attempting suicide/homicide.
Trauma is a highly complex and personal experience. Everyone's experience and definition of trauma is different. Among both professionals and clients, it is often incredibly misunderstood. It affects us across physical, social, emotional, and spiritual bounds. It compromises our ability to process sensory input and renders us incapable of communicating at times. Traumatic experiences can make us feel "small" and incompetent, incapable of managing basic tasks at times, or we may even develop intermittent or chronic pain.

Unresolved pain, trauma, depression and anxiety, sadly, are common experiences – on the rise and in every age group.
Life can be heavy, overwhelming, and confusing at times - it can be hard to find connection, feel understood, and valued. Sometimes we all struggle to bring our emotions back into balance, handle difficult feelings, or be effective in relationships. I am here to walk alongside of you through these times. As a therapist who focuses on attachment and connection, we work together in a secure and judgement-free environment where you can learn more about yourself, make goals and create a more meaningful life; this includes defining values and removing barriers to make choices match your values which is essential in this process.

I have lived and professional experience supporting those who identify as LGBTQ+, ADD/ADHD or struggle with complex trauma, addiction, work and relationship stress.
I believe that every person, regardless of diagnosis or past experiences, can lead purposeful and fulfilling lives with the proper support. We do the best with what we have, and too often life presents significant challenges we are forced to adapt to. Sometimes the patterns that were helpful to get through our childhood present major challenges later in life. Our symptoms do not make us abnormal and are not part of a fundamental flaw that needs fixing, they are a normal response to extraordinary circumstances. Problems do not exist within one person but are the result of a person’s context, family patterns, and learned behaviors.

Clients may be dealing with anxiety issues, mild to moderate levels of depression, interpersonal issues, issues related to anger, or unresolved issues with past trauma. I see people between 16-18 years old if it is their choice to seek help, and adults between 18 and 65 years of age, or older if they can pay privately. They are people who want to resolve troubling issues within themselves through increased self-understanding or between themselves and others through increased knowledge and willingness to practice new behavior.

I specialize in helping people explore their identities, process trauma, interrogate relationship issues, and curb addictive behaviors.
I believe that in order to form healthy, rewarding relationships with others we must first learn to nurture our relationship with ourselves. If you are struggling with thoughts and behaviors that are getting in the way of living your most fulfilling life, I want to help you find a new way forward. I believe that connectivity is the origin of joy but that the world around us, and sometimes we ourselves, so often thwart our ability to forge meaningful connections. I want to help you identify and integrate the parts of yourself that need attention, so that you may nurture your most authentic self.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
