I specialize working with adolescents (10-19 years-old) and young adults (20-34 years-old), and in the areas of trauma, anxiety, adjustment d/o, and teen issues.
It sounds "cliché" but I focus on meeting each client where they are from the very first therapy session. If you aren't sure what your exact issues, needs or goals for therapy are, you are not alone. I work with clients to identify key issues impacting daily life and contributing to their primary symptoms, develop treatment goals and objectives tailored to address the identified issues in a realistic way, and spending sessions working together to facilitate positive change.

Are you struggling with depression, anxiety, adjustment, or life transitions that are making it difficult to function? It may be time to reach out to a professional that is able to help you work through your struggles.
I am currently offering both virtual and in person care. My office is located in downtown Salem, OR. My goal is to make care accessible to those who need it. Providing virtual care cuts down on your time spent driving to appointments, waiting in waiting rooms, and provides an opportunity for those that are unable to come to a physical location the ability to access services. I also understand that there is value in providing face to face appointments and virtual care is not always a good option for all, therefore I now offer in person appointments on Fridays and Saturdays.

I see individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, identity issues, relationship troubles, or trauma.
This is your place to feel seen, heard, and understood. I value giving people a safe space to share and feel seen. Sometimes we put on a mask to look positive, but underneath we're feeling overwhelmed, worn down, hurt, and discouraged. It can be an isolating experience, coupled with anxiety, sadness, and uncertainty. Although it can be intimidating to begin, therapy is a great place to let your guard down and share what's really going on inside. I'll help you find your way forward, and we'll do it together. I don't want you to go through this alone.

I specialize in anxiety issues such as chronic worry, social fears, panic, obsessive thinking, rumination, or other similar issues which get in the way of living a fulfilling life.
I am an evidence-based therapist and provide mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral, and internal family systems concepts to tailor therapy to your needs. I will help you understand how to be more present-focused, how to set yourself up for success, and how to challenge negative thoughts and beliefs that hold you back from living a genuine life. I am a goal-oriented therapist. In the initial stages of therapy we will work together to identify and clarify goals. Then, I'll help you learn new skills or tools to make those goals a reality. Finally, we'll work on reducing the likelihood of similar issues coming up in the future.

Troublesome issues often relate to a lack of information about emotions such as anxiety, grief, anger, or shame, as well as poor habits such as self criticism and stress producing thoughts and attitudes.
Clients may be dealing with anxiety issues, mild to moderate levels of depression, interpersonal issues, issues related to anger, or unresolved issues with past trauma. I see people between 16-18 years old if it is their choice to seek help, and adults between 18 and 65 years of age, or older if they can pay privately. They are people who want to resolve troubling issues within themselves through increased self-understanding or between themselves and others through increased knowledge and willingness to practice new behavior.

Life has challenges for everyone. Whether you are an individual trying to find direction for your life, relationships, career, or a couple who has found themselves on opposite ends of the couch or compromise, or are a family who is trying to adjust to changes in the family or ongoing challenges. It takes strength and bravery to ask for help; to sit in vulnerability and worry about judgement, acknowledge the shame and guilt, and fear it could only get worse.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
