I specialize in working with clients who have experienced trauma in their lives, whether that be familial trauma, religious, or oppressive trauma.
Life is just getting too hard. The nightmares, the memories, the sleepless nights, the triggers, what do I do with it all? Will it always be this way for me? Trauma, CPTSD, and PTSD can feel overwhelming, frustrating and isolating. It's possible nobody around you understands, or they are telling you that you should "get over it", or that you should have been able to move on by now, and you want to. You want to be able to connect with people again, to feel safe in your environment and in your body. You want to feel better, and you want to thrive.

Don't have trauma history? Like many therapists, I use a variety of therapies to help clients reach their goals, whether trauma related or not.
Maybe you wonder if you've experienced trauma in your life. Maybe you know you have. Either way, you're here, at this point in time, because you want your life to be about more than just survival. You're amazing because you have survived, no smalll feat. But you want more, more choices in your life and in your responses to normal day-to-day life. You're wanting to thrive. We can do this work together. It is possible. And while the work is hard, it is not terrifying. We can work with trauma-specific therapies to prevent re-traumatization and create the safety needed for healing and growth. I hope to hear from you so we can chat more.

I specialize in trauma-informed care and have worked with survivors of childhood abuse, intergenerational trauma, domestic violence, and ongoing systemic and institutional trauma associated with race, religion, gender identity and sexual orientation.
It can be challenging to feel like you're not progressing when you feel the weight of trauma, anxiety and depression. Sometimes we need a space to process thoughts, emotions and life experiences, and sometimes we need practical coping skills to make it through the day; oftentimes, we need a combination of both. My hope is to continue providing individuals with the space they need to feel heard, and the tools they need to feel self-aware and self-empowered.

My counseling approach is relational and trauma-informed.
It can be easy to fall into the habit of not prioritizing ourselves. Therapy can be a great way to provide space for us to get honest with ourselves and to explore our thoughts and emotions more intentionally. My clients are those who are open and motivated to explore insights and to become closer aligned with their authentic self and values. As a proud child of immigrants who values diversity, I hope for my practice to be a safe space for all with the inclusion of every ethnicity, race, religion, disability, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression.

My specialty training includes working with occupational trauma, medical trauma, and pregnancy and infant loss.
Typically my clients reach out to me because of feelings of sadness, worry, and disconnection in important relationships. My clients are often people who describe themselves as being “do-ers”, goal oriented people who have difficulty slowing down to understand their internal world and why they do what they do. Many of my clients are medical professionals, first responders, and veterans who have worked hard to train themselves to manage their emotional reactions because of the need to focus and perform in their work setting.

I am skilled in companioning individuals who are experiencing distress related to sexual violence, incidents of trauma, grief & loss, and life transitions.
Pain is part of the human experience. Rather than efforts of eliminating distress, I invite individuals to amplify their awareness of thoughts, sensations, and impulses that contribute to pain and suffering. This mindful practice, coupled with self-compassion, can mobilize healing, increase our ability to manage distress, and expand our resilience. Collaboratively, we will explore options for creating a meaningful life.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
