When someone comes to therapy they want to feel heard. They want to feel safe. They want to know someone cares and can help them. They want to talk to someone who has the experience and skills to be present to their difficulties and who can bring about healing and resolution. Therapy is a unique human relationship based on compassion, empathy, and mutual collaboration.

Receiving teletherapy without leaving the comfort of your home is convenient for multiple obvious reasons; being in your own environment also offers several benefits that allow a natural process, greatly enhancing the therapeutic relationship. I enjoy working with adolescents, families, and adult individuals; ranging from a variety of metal health issues, to the daily highs and lows of life. My counseling style is to empathically meet my clients where they are throughout the therapeutic process, work alongside them while they navigate life, and offer insight for moving forward successfully.

Sometimes life becomes overwhelming, and that can lead to feeling lost and alone. It can be difficult to know where to turn, and how to find the right help. I often work with people who are facing depression, anxiety, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). You might be experiencing sadness, discouragement, or anxiety that interferes with your everyday life. While each person has their own journey to go through, you are certainly not alone, and you don’t have to feel this way forever. With therapy you can begin to climb out of isolation and start feeling like yourself again.

Are there old patterns stuck on repeat in your relationship that you’ve tried to change but can’t seem to? Is relationship stress or anxiety in general getting in the way of your feeling satisfied or in flow with your life? Maybe you feel invisible or unappreciated in your relationship. You may have even stopped trying due to repeated failures trying to "fix" what isn't working. The truth is every now and then we need support from someone who has the knowledge, training, and personal experience to help you with something like this. Imagine feeling more confident, calm, and in touch with yourself and in your relationships.

My name is Megan, and I am accepting new clients in Oregon. Taking those first steps towards self-improvement is not always easy and finding the right therapist can sometimes feel overwhelming. It is my goal to help you feel more comfortable as you embark on the journey. Creating a safe, accepting, and non-judgmental space where hope, healing, and self-discovery can flourish is what drives my work. I believe that the therapeutic process is different for each unique individual and there is not a one size fits all approach.

Hi and welcome! I would like to offer my hand in your journey. Often, people seek therapy when they are in a crisis such as a challenge in marriage, infidelity, difficulty with an adolescent, a transition, depression, anxiety, psychosis, or struggling with substance abuse. Sometimes people seek therapy when they need someone to help them reframe an issue or offer a different perspective. I value and respect each individual I work with. I work with adults, children, adolescents, couples, and families using many different theoretical approaches tailored to match your unique needs and personality.

Being a woman, especially a Desi/Indian woman is unique experience. Our family dynamics are unique, our relationship challenges are different, and we have to play by our cultural rules that can rarely be understood by someone outside of our culture. In such situations, it can be easy to feel alone and isolated as we deal with our family problems, marital challenges, or even workplace related stress. With me, as your Indian therapist, you don't have to constantly code-switch and explain every tiny aspect of your culture and life. I get it. I am one of us.

I help individuals, families, and couples get through difficult times in life and provide tools to tackle those challenges effectively. It can be difficult to find a therapist that is the right fit for you. I work with individuals who want to address concerns efficiently and not spend a significant amount of their lives in therapy.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
