The impact of painful past experiences, relationship problems, and never feeling "good enough" are interfering with your life. You feel broken and like you have to constantly wear a mask so others don’t see you’re struggling. Disconnection and hurt are your norm in many of your relationships. You’ve read self-help books and been to therapy before, but nothing has actually led to the growth and change you’re looking for in your life and relationships. You have a sense that you can have a life with more confidence, stability, and fulfilling relationships, and are thinking it’s time you get some support.

Currently Accepting New Clients! My role as your therapist to provide a safe and comfortable environment where your views are heard, respected, and upheld as valuable and important. My approach is to stand by your side and meet you wherever you are on your healing journey. I focus on building a strong therapeutic alliance, as I recognize how difficult it is to be vulnerable with a new person and how important it is to feel connected with your therapist. Together, we will learn coping skills, process past or present trauma, and explore strategies that will assist you in reaching your goals.

I am looking for a few highly motivated clients, with flexibility in their schedule, to add to my waitlist. Please contact me via email to see if we're a good fit. Ideally, you are motivated to make changes because you want to see a difference in your life and behaviors. Aside from treating common anxiety and depression symptoms, I have over a decade of experience working with eating disorders and trauma. I also have more recent experience working with ADHD symptoms. I am an LGBTQ accomplice and have experience supporting clients in various stages of their queer journey.

Life can be stressful, challenging, and overwhelming at times. You may be feeling stuck, uncertain, or burnt out and deeply desire change, but are struggling to make the change you want to experience. You may be grieving a loss or in a transition point in your life, and are unsure of what to do or how to claim your power. You may have experienced discrimination, microaggressions, racism, and systemic or gendered oppression. Perhaps you're a student, in a helping profession, a seasoned professional, an academic, or a creative person navigating change and looking for growth and finding your own definition of success.

Feeling overwhelmed, stressed or anxious? Sometimes the demands of modern life can make us feel out of control. When we are suffering, we tend to look at all that is wrong in our lives. We can lose confidence and make judgements and assumptions about ourselves or our situations that focus mainly on the negative. The coping strategies we adopted in childhood can become our defensive mechanisms in adulthood and we can often find ourselves repeating old patterns of behaviour that don't work but we don't know how to find a way to break the cycle.

I believe that a trusting relationship with you is of the utmost importance. During our time together I will work to create an atmosphere of warmth and acceptance so you feel free sharing and exploring whatever is troubling you. My approach is a trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive, and evidence-based integration of attachment theory, psychodynamic therapy, and cognitive therapy which emphasizes (1) trusting the client as an expert of their own reality, (2) exploring the patterns through which we come to understand ourselves, others, and the world, and (3) seeking meaningful emotional experiences in a safe therapeutic relationship.

My work is to walk with people in liberatory practices that allow us to return home to ourselves, our communities, and our place in this world. I aim to embody an orientation toward collective liberation. The mental health industry is deeply influenced by white supremacy, capitalism, and colonialism. As a white, queer, gender-resistant, liberation-oriented therapist, I aim to disrupt and dismantle those oppressive systems as they exist within me and in the larger society. I incorporate decolonial, abolitionist, and transformative justice frameworks into our work as we meet one-on-one or in many relational configurations.

Many of my clients come to me with emotional wounds. They often felt invisible, rejected, devalued, or deeply hurt by others. They learned to adapt to the unsupportive environment by judging themselves, tensing up, trying to control everything, disconnecting from themselves, numbing their feelings, not trusting others, hiding, or trying to please everyone. As time goes by, these strategies stop working and become symptoms we label as depression, anxiety, disordered eating, substance use, PTSD, self-harm, etc. I work with clients to break free from the past and live life in the way they want.

Accepting New Clients! When you feel overwhelmed and frustrated, it's like trying to keep your head above the water. Life can get busy, basic every day tasks become difficult, relationships get strained, and the wear and tear of your different roles becomes harder to juggle. Our big feelings can make it feel impossible to get ahead of ourselves. There may be times when we feel so lonely, even in a crowded room. Sometimes we get stuck and we don't know where, or who, to turn to. Sound familiar?

I work with people who are coping with transitions in all stages of life. These are times when we feel vulnerable. We may need extra support and a safe place to explore what is happening and how we are responding. Negative experiences and traumas from the past may be reawakened and our self worth is challenged. I am experienced working with clients of diverse backgrounds, ages and customs with a range of concerns from relationships, anxiety, depression, grief, perinatal & parenting issues and trauma. I am passionate about this work and what can be accomplished in a collaborative, non-judgmental, respectful and intentional alliance.

My focus is helping people transform long-standing roots of emotional distress, especially those resulting from difficult or traumatizing backgrounds, including diffuse and difficult to name traumas such as enmeshment and emotional neglect. I work together with clients to pinpoint the inner and outer sources of distress in their lives, develop a plan to transform this distress, and provide the tools of inner transformation, enabling them to relate to their lives with greater peace, clarity, stability and agency – aiming always for an open authenticity that is fully alive and empowered.

My desire is to help individuals, couples and families to navigate through life's issues by applying Christ-centered counseling. My Bible-based approach will acknowledge that life can be difficult, but that each person is created uniquely and wonderfully by God, and He has a good future in store for His children.

I approach counseling in an eclectic manner employing a variety of treatment options that best meets the client "where they are" and assists them as they move to "where they want to be." Support, insight, and motivation techniques are used to encourage each person to connect with their own natural (internal) wisdom and strength.
With over 25 years in private practice, I have the training, the skills, and the experience to address concerns related to relationships, parenting, work/career transitions, recovery from illnesses such as a cardiac event and breast cancer, and issues of depression and anxiety.
