I bring the ability to deeply hear the narratives clients are living and create a therapeutic environment where healing and transformation become possible. I focus on treating clients who have lived through complex childhood trauma and its effects, and those living with the effects of marginalization, adoptive and/or foster narratives, and perfectionism. I can help with relationships, codependency, love addiction, body image, OCD, self-discovery, recovery, grief, and parenting. My integrative approach meets clients where they are and includes the mind, heart, and body in growing self-awareness and wellness. I am also 12-step savvy.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). As a therapist and a person, I value authenticity over “perfection,” and I value honest conflict over dishonest harmony. For this reason, I particularly enjoy working with individuals who are interested in uncovering their truth. There are many reasons why people may lose connection to themselves, their own needs, goals, and strengths. Whether it is due to mental illness, addiction, codependency, trauma, abuse, grief, conflicting societal pressures or rules, something else or all of the above, there are ways to work through it. You are not alone, and are capable of the change you seek.

I am passionate about the work that I do and specialize in couples counseling, relationship issues, anxiety/stress management, life transitions, parenting/parental skill building, self-esteem and codependency.
Hi there! I know that finding the right therapist can be challenging, especially when things may already feel overwhelming and you're doing your best to keep your head above water. Life gets busy, relationships get strained, and it can be tough to juggle all of the different hats you wear. I believe that everyone has strengths and my goal is to empower clients to work through barriers that may lead them to be feeling stuck. I take a holistic, client-centered, directive approach with individuals and couples. I show up in sessions as my genuine self and hope to create an environment where my clients feel safe to do the same.

I work with both individuals and relational systems surrounding relational concerns, ethical non-monogamy/polyamory, codependency, familial conflicts; as well as anxiety, depression, financial stress, and life transitions.
I know finding the right fit for a therapist can be a bit like shopping for a sofa: try a bunch before finding the one that makes you want to rest and stay a while. I’ll offer a few details that might make this process feel a little more directive. I am a licensed professional counselor and a marriage and family therapist candidate. My work is relational at its core, whether I am working with individuals, or larger units. Those who seem to get the most out of working with me are in touch with their internal emotional landscapes and interested in being active participants in their healing.

I'm a Certified Gottman Therapist with extensive training in conflict management, improving communication, and rebuilding trust. I've also noticed that deciding to go to therapy tends tconjure up every TV or movie depiction of a client and therapist sitting in a dimly lit room while the client talks and talks about their problems. They never show the actual work that is necessary for real change to happen. They just show weekly sessions, and BOOM… an epiphany is made and they’re all better. Sadly, many of us have been in therapy on and off for years, mistakenly thinking that this was all that was necessary. You want more than that.

Not accepting new patients at this time. I believe that each person has inherent worth, wisdom and the capacity to develop in ways that can lead toward wholeness and renewed energy for life. My main job is to co-create a therapeutic container where inner and outer healing can take place. I believe that when we listen to psychological symptoms, instead of ignoring or resisting them, we are more likely to find out what is out of balance and needs further integration in ourselves.

As problems develop in our lives it can be difficult to see the whole picture. As a result, the problems we face often leave us confused, unsure of ourselves, and feeling lost or helpless. In my work as a counselor I take a practical approach in helping people gain a deeper understanding of their lives, relationships, and sense of self. You can expect me to be an understanding and compassionate collaborator while also gently challenging you to consider new perspectives and solutions.

Life is hard! On the surface, it might look like everything is okay, but you don’t feel okay at all. Maybe the demands of school, work, kids, or relationships are crushing you. You’re stressed out, maxed out, and having a hard time making sense of what got you here and how to move forward. Maybe you’ve tried everything to resolve things on your own, but nothing helps and no one understands what you’re going through. You’re longing for a fulfilling life and connected relationships, but you’re stuck in constant survival mode and definitely aren’t enjoying life. There is a way through this!

Codependency Therapists

What therapy types help with codependency problems?

Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?

Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?

Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?

One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
