I am currently offering both virtual and in person care. My office is located in downtown Salem, OR. My goal is to make care accessible to those who need it. Providing virtual care cuts down on your time spent driving to appointments, waiting in waiting rooms, and provides an opportunity for those that are unable to come to a physical location the ability to access services. I also understand that there is value in providing face to face appointments and virtual care is not always a good option for all, therefore I now offer in person appointments on Fridays and Saturdays.

As no two individuals have the exact lived experience, it is important that counseling treatment plans be tailor-made for each person no matter your age or stage in life. Utilizing a person-centered approach, I select therapy modalities and interventions best suited to your presenting problem and stated goals.

Life has many up and downs and it all a journey, everyone has a different path to get to our destination. Therapy is process it is not perfect, but I will support you as you walk this path. I do not believe therapy is a one size fits all process, each person is as different as the therapy process. I believe the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is the most important relationship, I hold no judgements and I strive to make the client feel comfortable and supported.

As a counselor, I work collaboratively with clients to identify strengths and challenges, provide new perspectives, and help identify tools and skills to work towards goals. My clinical approach draws upon various therapeutic models, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Overall, I honor each client’s individuality and tailor my approach to meet their unique needs in a compassionate collaborative therapeutic setting.

Many of us reach a point in our life where our ways of dealing with issues are no longer working and we need new skills to create the changes we want. I believe that we have the capacity within us to overcome difficult challenges, heal from painful life experiences and achieve our most valued personal goals. Working with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues, My therapeutic approach is to help you face your challenges with insight, warmth and humor. I am Marcie Walker, the Hope Whisperer, who is accepting new clients! In a safe, warm, and supportive environment, I will honor the words you share with me, and travel your journey with you. I have personal experience in therapeutic work with adults and families, as well as working with students at these grade levels: Middle, high, and college ages. I have 23 years experience working with the special needs population. Preventing bullying is my passion, so it is no wonder that, for the past twenty years as staff and student, I have advocated for many who were bullied and treated unfairly.

New Clients Welcome! Life presents its fair share of challenges, and having someone by your side can make all the difference. I thrive on collaborating with individuals who seek change and are open to exploring new avenues. If you're 14 years or older and struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, or autism spectrum disorder, you understand the complexities of navigating life. My approach is grounded in highlighting your strengths, and I utilize a variety of techniques to facilitate your healing journey. As a clinician, I prioritize flexibility, recognizing that each person is unique, and there's no one-size-fits-all solution.

Life can be heavy, overwhelming, and confusing at times - it can be hard to find connection, feel understood, and valued. Sometimes we all struggle to bring our emotions back into balance, handle difficult feelings, or be effective in relationships. I am here to walk alongside of you through these times. As a therapist who focuses on attachment and connection, we work together in a secure and judgement-free environment where you can learn more about yourself, make goals and create a more meaningful life.

Life is tough and we all need support at times with changes and difficulties. Counseling can be part of your support network. It is my goal to establish a safe environment where individuals can take time to process issues, and in the process engage their strengths, develop new ways of coping and receive fresh insight. I utilize both cognitive-behavioral therapy and DBT concepts. I am trained in EMDR, a specialized trauma technique. I am also a board approved clinical supervisor.

**Not currently taking new clients** I believe that everyone has the ability and strength to make the changes they desire in their life. Some people need a place to explore how to do this, and this is where I can help. I see my role in the therapeutic process as providing a non-judgmental space to help clients clarify what changes they want to pursue, and guide them as they find their own strength and self-determination to make those changes. I use a client-centered approach with some CBT techniques. I have a degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and am a member of the ACA, following their Code of Ethics.

It can be difficult at times to ask for help. I'm glad you have taken the first step. I am a therapist with many years experience supporting a diverse population of clients. Most recently I have been working with midlife and seniors experiencing declines in health. Before this I was a children's therapist focusing on children with disabilities, and those who have experienced trauma. I also enjoy working with individuals who have struggled with addiction as their strength is inspiring. I am a former foster/adoptive parent and enjoy supporting all members of the adoption triad. Teens and young adults are also a focus.
