Difficulty is a part of life. Depression, anxiety, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship issues, trauma... These are just some of the common experiences that bring people to counseling. I think growth and healing are most likely to occur when we feel safe, understood, connected, and believe that we matter. My primary focus is to offer a space and develop a therapeutic relationship where these needs can be met. You may bring specific goals in mind to counseling, or we can work together to create them. I offer spiritual integration, if you so desire. I currently work with adults and older teens (age 16+).

I pull from IFS, EMDR, DBT, ACT and practice harm reduction.
I am a trauma specialist providing virtual appointments throughout Oregon, Florida and NY. You would probably seek out a cardiologist if you had a heart issue, right? Well, if you have the opportunity, I suggest you seek out a therapist who specializes in your unique issues. I am not a generalist; I specialize in Trauma, Dissociation, Eating Disorders, Body Dysmorphia and anxiety. I work with these issues because they're what I'm most passionate about and I've dedicated my life's work to combatting the systemic issues that cause or exacerbate those issues.

And, yes, we all have one! Together we can find meaning, develop your personal symbolic narrative, and create self-regulation and self- acceptance.
Are you struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, or intimate partner violence? Maybe you are learning to navigate a new neurodivergence diagnosis or exploring your identity. On our journey through life, sometimes our path can seem to disappear in front of us. Our usual skills no longer hold and guide us through the experiences and systems we are navigating. In these trying times, a helping hand can make all the difference, and that is where art therapy comes in.

I also offer a heal at the root approach with EMDR, CBT, ACT - and if that’s not enough acronyms for you feel free to reach out to me on my website to book a free consultation today.
Did you wake up this morning with a pit in your stomach? Are you feeling a sense of dread as you start your day? Are you feeling like you are never on top of work, school, relationships, parenting, or life in general? When was the last time you felt like you actually got anything on your mile long to-do list done? Are these “unprecedented times” wearing you down? Are you still thinking about that thing you said when you were hanging out with your friend? Are you feeling anxious about social commitments? Do you lay awake at night thinking about every little thing until you are spiraling out of control?

My clinical approach is rooted in CBT, ERP, and ACT and is informed by an anti-oppressive/anti-racist and pro queer/LGBTQ+ approach with a focus on my client’s strengths.
Change is possible. A diagnosis of OCD or another anxiety disorder can be scary and confusing. It can feel like your life is defined by dread, worry, fear, and exhaustion. Much of your energy and time are likely spent trying to present to the outside world as “successful” and “having it all together”. Internally, you may feel disconnected from your core self, your innate purpose and potential, and the ability to enjoy simple moments in your life. Anxiety doesn’t have to define who you are as a human. Therapy is courageous work. I’m glad you’re here making this first step.

Depression, Anxiety, Trauma - I use EMDR, ACT, Integral Theory and Contemplative Psychotherapies.
Challenges we encounter in our lives are indicators of being "stuck" in our personal and relational growth. Psychotherapy can help us get "unstuck".... My approach is process and relationally oriented - "solutions" can come from changing our relationships with ourselves and others in our lives, and restructuring ourselves as we work with our life challenges. Depression, anxiety, trauma, men's issues, relationship strain, addictions -substances/alcohol, gambling, shopping, pornography, gaming. My experience can be helpful - psychotherapist, crisis worker, clinical supervisor, administrator, manager, policy analyst and educator.

I have training in addictions, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Gottman, Cognitive-behavioral, DBT, PCIT and spiritual modalities.
Over the course of my 26 year career I have met so many beautiful people who have just needed a little help to get through a divorce, develop skills to cope with anxiety, overcome an addiction, heal a marriage, leave an abusive relationship, figure out what is causing depression, or develop a better sense of self. It is the privilege of my life to do this work.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
