I have advanced training in the treatment of substance abuse disorders, relationship therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction, and mindful self-compassion.
I work with a variety of adult clients. Most people who consult me are confronting anxiety, depression, substance abuse, stress related disorders, and marital problems. In assessing the type of problems, people present, I look at lifestyle, current coping mechanisms, how we think and perceive our problem, our personal histories and what strategies specifically people have used to address their concerns. The use of mindfulness, learning to be more present in the moment allows for reduced reactivity, new ways of coping, problem solving, and relating to others in ones environment. It can lead to healing and transformation.

That's why I became a relationship and intimacy coach and got my PhD in Human Sexuality.
Almost all couples go through phases when they're not as intimate as they could be. I coach people to solve very simple problems so that they can connect and feel excited about their relationship again. It's tough to live without physical closeness, touch or connection. You want a passionate relationship - not just a functional but unsatisfying friendship. The problem is, when you think about your options it's hard to imagine anything that might help. You undoubtably feel hurt and misunderstood - even if your partner is a great person. You might be looking at the challenge of a breakup or divorce. Is it worth it to stay committed?

I am a licensed professional counselor and have been in practice for over 13 years. I use evidenced based practices to address trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, and relationship challenges. Most unhealthy coping behaviors were survival skills. These skills were beneficial but now interfere with joy and connection. There is relief in exploring outdated coping strategies and replacing with current strategies that facilitate authenticity, closeness, and peace. You can request a new client consultation from my website.

Ever have those days where you think, “Something has to change, I can’t take this anymore!” Perhaps you’re going through a rough patch in your relationship, you are feeling burnt out at work, you just welcomed a new baby into your family, or you are struggling to navigate parenting without feeling inadequate or overwhelmed. Or maybe you’re feeling down, worried, sad, burnt out, or stuck in a fog that you are not sure how to escape. The struggle is real and you don’t have to face it alone. It is my goal to help my clients experience relief, find joy, and create lasting change in their lives.

Everyone experiences sadness and distress. When we are struggling with painful experiences it can be helpful to have someone to assist us in our journey to healing, comfort, and connection. My clients often reach out when they experience anxiety, depression, self-doubt, grief, relationship struggles and other situations. I assist my clients in learning about and connecting with themselves and others from a place of compassion. Counseling provides a safe place to explore oneself including goals, values, and needs. Through one’s innate strength, clients can learn to trust themselves, find meaning, and get through life struggles.

How you feel in relationship with your therapist is most important and I invite you to find a therapeutic relationship that works best for you! Please reach out and let's see how we might work together in this process of growth and self-discovery.
All therapists have a philosophy about the nature of people, problems, and how change happens. I believe people have a natural tendency to grow and expand when offered safety and support. People can become "stuck" when ways of relating to self and to others prevent growth. Often our most early relationships shape how we see ourselves, others, the world and our felt sense of confidence in how we might navigate it. "Stuckness" for my clients may look many different ways including, anxiety, stress, depression and/or relationship distress. No matter where you are at, you are the expert of your experience, and all of you is welcome.

I believe that the foundation upon which an individual's emotional, psychological, and physical health may thrive is determined by the strength of that individual's relationship with "self". My treatment style is holistic and integrated, its core components being that of empathy, authenticity, and collaboration. My areas of practice include relational issues experienced throughout the lifespan, trauma, moral injury, sexual/gender issues, and issues pertaining to chronic illness and addiction. I provide services for those within the military culture, LGBTQI community, and for caretakers experiencing compassion fatigue.

Engaging a Mindfulness-based, cognitive approach can greatly benefit anyone exploring lifespan challenges and/or their journey towards personal growth. The most powerful relationship you will ever have is the relationship with yourself. Specializing in couples and individual counseling, I have over 28 years of experience addressing marital issues, trauma, anxiety, depression, and grief. In addition to being a psychotherapist and hypnotherapist, I also provide a space (drumming circles) for individuals and/or groups to experience a healing approach through sound and self-expression.

You will find relief from shame and self-doubt, trauma, anxiety, depression, overwhelming anger, addictions, dissociation, relationship, spiritual, and identity challenges.
I am HOSTING a Small Therapy GROUP - "Coming HOME to the BODY After TRAUMA" - in SUMMER/FALL. Reach out with interest or questions! Welcome. I believe we are innately healing beings and internally have what we need to heal. Within each of us is a deep knowing of who we truly are, what really matters to us, and our life’s purpose. Yet, in this human life, we inevitably encounter traumas, and it's easy to lose our connection to the inner knowing of our hearts. We may feel lost, disconnected, unlovable, or angry. As a therapist, my intention is to join alongside you on your healing journey and help you reconnect to you.

We are all looking for love. Authentic self love takes time, attention and oftentimes help.  Looking for it outside of yourself is exhausting, demoralizing and depressing. Believing that there must be something wrong with you is isolating and terrible for the self esteem required for a healthy relationship. You are tired of feeling like a beggar, when you know you have so much to give. You know you are amazing and are at loss as to how to get what you need and want in a partner. You’d like a relationship with mutual love, respect and deep connection. You would also like to feel great about yourself in the context of a relationship

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
