I specializing in helping empty nest & mid-age couples reconnect & resolve their pain points as well as helping couples affected by the chaos of infidelity.
Helping couples find their way to a new, conscious relationship after a crisis, period of disconnection, or simply being stuck is my passion and purpose, which is why I work exclusively with couples. In fact, I have developed an accelerated couples therapy protocol, which can be equivalent of up to 6 months of therapy in only 3 days. I use evidence-based interventions, plus, as a doctoral level provider I can address many other needs that impact the relationship system. I offer warmth, genuineness, and a judgement-free zone in person or Telehealth. Accepting new clients for intensive therapy. Let's see if we are a good fit.

If you've found yourself here, then I imagine you are looking for support to make a change in your life. It can be so challenging when you are shifting through all of these profiles to understand who can help you and how. It is true, there is not one counselor that is a great fit for each person. However, with over 14 years of therapist experience, I have seen that therapy REALLY works! I have also noticed that underneath a lot of anxiety, depression, eating disorders and relationship concerns is trauma. I specialize in working with trauma using EMDR. I help people move from a life of pain to one where they experience thriving.

Making the choice to seek help is incredibly brave, and finding a counselor can be overwhelming. I aim to make the process as safe and effortless as possible, providing individual, family, and couples counseling. We all have a right to belong, be respected, and feel heard and understood. If you experience anxiety, depression, shame, grief and loss, have had traumatic experiences, or relationship difficulties, counseling may help. Together we can find healing, promote connection with others, reduce distress, implement healthy boundaries, and process our hurt to create a better relationship with ourselves, our stories, and our world.

Struggling with relationships, disturbing emotions, traumatic pasts, despair, addictions, utter confusion, all of this has meaning and the potential to propel us toward a better life. My job is to help people understand the process of what's happening and provide tools, skills and insights to navigate not just this situation, but future ones as well. So often people focus on symptoms instead of causes. Sometimes it's about managing symptoms, but more often there awaits an opportunity to get to the root and grow through and beyond this obstacle, to be more aware, capable and resilient than ever before.

Almost all couples go through phases when they're not as intimate as they could be. I coach people to solve very simple problems so that they can connect and feel excited about their relationship again. It's tough to live without physical closeness, touch or connection. You want a passionate relationship - not just a functional but unsatisfying friendship. The problem is, when you think about your options it's hard to imagine anything that might help. You undoubtably feel hurt and misunderstood - even if your partner is a great person. You might be looking at the challenge of a breakup or divorce. Is it worth it to stay committed?

After more than 35 years of clinical practice, I am now working with individuals and couples exploring emotional issues as a pathway to understanding and living fuller lives. We often view our difficulties as something being wrong with us, as opposed to an invitation to discovery.

I believe that the foundation upon which an individual's emotional, psychological, and physical health may thrive is determined by the strength of that individual's relationship with "self". My treatment style is holistic and integrated, its core components being that of empathy, authenticity, and collaboration. My areas of practice include relational issues experienced throughout the lifespan, trauma, moral injury, sexual/gender issues, and issues pertaining to chronic illness and addiction. I provide services for those within the military culture, LGBTQI community, and for caretakers experiencing compassion fatigue.

I believe all people have the capacity to live satisfying and joyful lives. I am here to help when those qualities feel elusive and your history and patterns are keeping you stuck. I work online and in person teaching people how to access their inner wisdom and healing capacity using the methods of Internal Family Systems, guided imagery and trauma processing. I have witnessed these techniques resulting in greater peace and fulfillment in the lives of my clients. Internal Family Systems work can enable a life of greater vitality, playfulness and compassion. One learns to integrate all parts of self to live a more aligned life.

My psychology and counseling practice is the expansion of identities through awareness and compassion not just solving problems. Your journey has been one with twists and turns and taking the first step to contact me may feel uncertain. Given life can feel like a maze, I make our initial contact straightforward as possible. For 25 years I’ve helped people clear the way to the freedom of their true nature in psychotherapy as well as hypnotherapy. I’ve worked as a crisis worker in ERs, to chief auditor for mental health services in Silicon Valley, to developing a successful counseling training center focused on mindfulness

Do you feel worried, unhappy or uncomfortable in your relationships or just by yourself? Maybe you find yourself saying, "How did I get here? I can’t do this anymore. Something needs to change or else…" You wonder if you're always going to feel this way. Daily tasks and interactions with people are monotonous, joyless or exhausting. You play the comparison game and other people's lives seem to be so much better than yours. No one would understand if you told them what you're going through. Life feels like a struggle. Anxiety, depression, anger, confusion or discomfort seem like the norm, not the exception.

You deserve to be having the best days! You know that something has to shift, but not exactly sure what that is or how things will change. Your emotions might be inhibiting you from feeling empowered, confident and clear in your decision making. I would be honored to support you in gaining perspective through a style that is direct, down to earth and focuses on a collaborative approach. I believe that life is a series of transitions, some more challenging than others, and that there is no reason to proceed solo.

Now taking new client and can now take Aetna! I approach counseling much like Sam helps Frodo in Lord of the Rings, I will follow you and help you with your burden for as long as you need me, still knowing it's your journey and burden to bear. I thoroughly enjoy working with clients that are experiencing existential dread or feel like they are searching for some sort of meaning in life. This could include but is not limited to: feeling anxious, guilty, or depressed without knowing why, a loss of interest in your hobbies and relationships, and/or questioning your goals, ideals and values.

Infidelity Therapists

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
