I also offer a heal at the root approach with EMDR, CBT, ACT - and if that’s not enough acronyms for you feel free to reach out to me on my website to book a free consultation today.
Did you wake up this morning with a pit in your stomach? Are you feeling a sense of dread as you start your day? Are you feeling like you are never on top of work, school, relationships, parenting, or life in general? When was the last time you felt like you actually got anything on your mile long to-do list done? Are these “unprecedented times” wearing you down? Are you still thinking about that thing you said when you were hanging out with your friend? Are you feeling anxious about social commitments? Do you lay awake at night thinking about every little thing until you are spiraling out of control?

You're an adult with a big imagination, creative at heart, but you feel stuck. You’re struggling with chronic pain, unresolved trauma, or overwhelming anxiety. You need space to breathe, to heal, & to reconnect with the person you know you can be. To tap back into your creativity, confidence, and be fully present in your relationships and work.

We will utilize inner child healing (and other parts too!), somatic awareness, EMDR, and your spirituality to regulate your nervous system, process and release stored trauma, and connect you to your intuition so you can cultivate a sense of self-acceptance.
You’re self aware, but the intensity of your emotions often seems to win out. You are committed to growth and deepening your self-knowledge but find yourself either stuck in the depths of your emotions or unable to connect with them at all. You desire secure relationships, but instead experience anxiety or detachment and can’t seem to shake feelings of shame. Now, you feel ready to process the more hidden aspects of yourself that you had to push aside just to get by. You want to increase your capacity for connection to yourself and to others, so you can find more safety in your body, your relationships, and in the world.

As we evolve through life, we are faced with challenges and new roles that may make us feel inadequate and uncomfortable. It is not uncommon for a person to feel stuck or lost during this time. For the past 25 years, in an educational and therapeutic setting, I have worked along side adults, and couples/families to help create effective ways to tackle such challenges. When we negatively question our self-worth and strengths, it is time to develop productive ways to break old patterns and see through a truthful lenses.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
