I believe that in order to make changes in our lives we need to start by looking at our relationship to ourselves, to the world and to people in it. Some of our patterns of relating were set in motion long before we had any awareness of or language for our emotions. In my practice I have found that a compassionate, respectful and mutually trusting approach can lead to meaningful change and ultimately a more authentic and fulfilling life.
Recent advances in research in the fields of attachment, trauma, and the neurobiology of emotion have shown that mind, brain, and body are inextricably linked, and that no one who seeks to work with any of these can afford to ignore the other two.
I strive to use a holistic approach, mindful of the fact that, as we change throughout our lives, so do our needs in therapy.
In my work with the international community of Washington, DC, I pay close attention to different and sometimes sensitive aspects of multicultural adjustment.
