What i, my name is Okenna, and I am a licensed clinical professional counselor (Illinois). I have a doctorate in counselor education and supervision from William & Mary, and have been working with clients since 2011. I am passionate about helping people become their best selves and work through the challenges the world throws at us. My approach towards counseling centers on empowering individuals and highlighting the strengths that they already possess to pull them through their hardships.
My style is best described as person-centered, but I also incorporate techniques and treatments from other therapeutic approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy and solution focused therapy to meet clients unique needs in therapy.
My past experiences working with teenagers, young adults, persons of color have prepared me to work with people navigating a variety of difficulties including mood disorders (anger, depression, anxiety), sociocultural challenges (racism or discrimination), ADHD, trauma, and many other conditions.
