I work with individuals, couples and groups.
Many adults may seek the help of a therapist when they are feeling depressed or anxious. Often they might be experiencing disillusionment, discontent, doubt or restlessness but are not sure of the reasons why. Many times they seek to alleviate the painful emotions resulting from loss, or dysfunction in interpersonal relationships. I believe my role is to assist these clients in determining the source of their discontent and developing coping skills to live successfully and happily, in spite of life's challenges. I especially enjoy working with adults experiencing midlife transitions and the associated challenges of the afternoon of life.

I work with couples to help them utilize active listening, understand each others attachment styles, and avoid the drama triangle.
At any stage in life difficulties along the way can cause positive parts of ourselves to get a little buried, blocked, or hidden. Using your own creative process, I aim to help you reconnect with the parts of yourself that are confident, courageous, caring, compassionate, curious, calm, and connected. This process can be done individually, with couples, and in family sessions.

Life comes with unexpected challenges, none of which we should walk through alone. When difficulties arise, we need relationship and community; someone to come alongside, listen and provide insight and support. My job as a counselor is to help you, through our therapeutic relationship, identify goals for yourself and uncover whatever it is that is preventing you from reaching those goals. Whether it’s marriage difficulties, anxiety, depression, trauma or a lack of meaning and direction; I want to help you uncover these obstacles, and be a support as you achieve wellbeing.

The good news is there is hope. Let me show you how to get relief from your symptoms and freedom from your pain so you can experience greater contentment and joy. I am a kind, non-judgmental listener who truly wants the best for you.

I enjoy working with individuals and couples through Telehealth or in office.
With over a decade of experience, I specialize in helping clients create secure, healthy attachments to their loved ones and with themselves. Most of my clients are what I call, "cycle breakers." They are highly successful people who want to strengthen their mental heath and relationships. I do this through Emotionally Focused Therapy and the method of re-parenting, which is a way of giving oneself what they needed as a child and allows them to break unhealthy patterns.

Sometimes life throws more at us than we know how to handle! Trauma, anxiety and depression impact so many of us, sometimes in ways we can't imagine. In those times we can all feel overwhelmed and alone. I so firmly believe that it is in those times that reaching out for the help of others is a sign of strength and wisdom. I consider it a privilege to partner with my clients as they learn to adjust to and thrive in ups and downs of life!

By providing respect and compassion the therapeutic relationship can begin to develop and continue building upon these with other elements of care and modalities such as EMDR and Circle of Security to name a few.
Trauma, loss, circumstances, and relationships of all sorts can deeply impact us. Many life situations can lead us to seeking help or just a safe place to vent, sift, and collaborate. Regardless of what may lead us to a counselor, the need and goal is to feel better, begin the healing journey, repair/grow/maintain relationships, and/or alleviate emotional and physical triggers.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
