Have you been crying while watching endearing videos posted on Facebook more than you care to admit? Are you not enjoying activities like you used to? Feel like you cannot do anything right and become angry? By teaching additional coping skills to manage anger, anxiety or depression; identifying strengths; and rebuilding resiliency will aid in personal growth. The main goal is to help sift through stressors that causes conflict and regain access to skills that successfully worked for you, while learning new tools to find a better balance. Your emotional health and wellness is top priority at this very moment.

My experience encompasses working with individuals, families, couples, LGBTQ+ adults and teens, survivors of abuse and trauma, those dealing with mental health issues like depression and anxiety, self-harm, substance use disorders, and individuals working on self-esteem.
Perhaps you have never considered therapy before, thinking that issues related to individuals, partners, marriage, and family are private matters. I understand—I've been there. Consulting with a trained therapist can significantly improve or even alleviate the pain and challenges you are facing. It does not imply that something is wrong with you; rather, it shows strength in seeking support. Therapy is not a crutch for the weak; it is an opportunity for growth. Engaging in therapy can mark a turning point in your life, allowing you to delve into self-discovery, set goals, and ultimately lead to a more fulfilling life.

I have experience treating persons of all ages for various reasons but find my niche to be in treating adults struggling with PTSD and complex trauma stemming from various traumas including combat, interpersonal trauma, and childhood trauma, as well as acculturation, anxiety, depression, coping and adjusting to declining health and/or ageing.
I mostly provide individual therapy services via telehealth, using a client centered, trauma informed, whole body approach because I believe in a balanced body/mind relationship which will allow you to recover from trauma and stress while growing your resilience for future stressful events that life tends to have in store. I can assist you in ways that allows you to discover your personal combinations of healthy habits that can help you achieve an overall satisfaction with life despite it’s challenges. It will take time and effort but if you are willing to put in the work you can succeed and I will support you on your journey.

As a licensed clinical psychologist, I provide therapy services to adults and adolescents. My priority is to ensure I have a full understanding of a client’s needs to ultimately create a safe and comfortable space. It is my belief that problems addressed in therapy do not exist in isolation. Therefore, I commonly explore stressors, relationships, and the personal views of my clients. I do not believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. Instead, I integrate a variety of therapeutic approaches into my work, including Multi-Cultural, Interpersonal, Psychodynamic, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies.

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
