My client's range in age from 5 years of age to our young at heart senior citizens who face a wide range of challenges to include: anxiety, depression, child conduct behaviors, ADD/ADHD and grief.
Have you lost someone close to you and finding it difficult to cope? Grief can immobilize us and make daily life hard. There is no time line to this personal journey and I would like to help you navigate your path through this trying time. There is no judgement, only empathy and understanding that it is possible to feel whole again in a new and different way.

I believe successful treatment is rooted in a warm, supportive, and trusting relationship where I utilize an open-minded and non-judgmental attitude to gain a thorough understanding of your experience. The best counseling allows you to bear witness to your own story. From this foundation, we will unpack, explore, and work through the challenges and barriers preventing you from living a more fulfilling life. My theoretical orientation is Client Centered, also known as Person Centered. I also have a passion for EMDR and have been practicing this specialized trauma treatment since 2016.

I am accepting clients at this time. My practice is rooting in the philosophy that our experiences create our beliefs and narratives, which in turn create our adaptive or maladaptive behaviors and patterns. By identifying and understanding those beliefs, we learn how to adjust behaviors, thoughts, and patterns while accepting ourselves and what life gives us. My role as a counselor is to provide nonjudgmental guidance in the journey of understanding while allowing room for growth and collaborative conversation.

I can tell you that I have been there and can relate to the emotional hardships of being you and navigating life and relationships. I am passionate about helping clients with trauma, anxiety, & depression, & most enjoy working with clients aged 13-35. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, & compassion, regardless of background. Working with people from more marginalized populations & concerns related to these areas (2S-LGBTQIA+ populations, women's issues, religious trauma, racism, physical health concerns/ disabilities, adult children of immigrant families, etc.) is a passion of mine, but I am happy to work with those who are not part of these populations as well. NOTE: Email is the best way to reach me, as I am with clients most of the day!

Although I see a number of clients for various reasons I have a special interest in helping people dealing with anxiety. Most people simply want to get rid of thoughts and feelings that make them anxious. These anxieties lead to obsessions that can lead to a number of other negative consequences. These include but are not limited to health problems, being unable to face certain situations or places, and being unable to be around people or do things that they used to enjoy. Most people simply want to live there lives and do things they want to do without having to consider anxiety getting in their way.

My calling in life is to walk beside you during some of the most vulnerable and anxiety-inducing times of your life, so if anything I've said resonates with you personally, don't hesitate to reach out.
My clients are those seeking to understand themselves more fully (emotionally, cognitively, and socially) while also working toward intentional change based on their personal values and motivations. Whether the person before me is struggling with grief, with transitioning through different phases of life, or with loneliness, low-self worth, or anger, the unifying theme is that they all desire change, understanding, and a more hopeful tomorrow.

Life is a book in which we intend to write one story, but are inevitably forced to write another. I help couples and individuals through the difficult chapters. Has the love story you dreamed of writing grown stagnant or been rocked by betrayal? I’ll help restore intimacy, reignite passion, rebuild trust, and rediscover the joy of love. Facing a chapter characterized by debilitating depression, crippling anxiety, a cloud of grief, or the ghost of past trauma? Find refuge, relief, and healing here. A difficult chapter doesn’t mean your story is ruined. We'll get through the painful pages and begin writing a new and better chapter.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
