I specialize treating adults with depression, anxiety, trauma, gambling, and OCD.
How do you handle your emotions? Does your anxiety spiral out of control and keep you stuck? Does your depression trap you and make it impossible to do anything? Does your anger explode and hurt your relationships? Does your past trauma lead you to pushing others away and isolation? Managing anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, and stress can seem impossible. We can easily become trapped by intense feelings. It can become lost and don’t know where to go next. I want to help you learn to manage these emotions and take control of your life.

This includes people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) (this includes what was once known as Asperger's Syndrome), Attention-Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), & OCD.
Now Accepting New Clients! Life can be stressful, and even oftentimes overwhelming. Stressors and trauma can impact our lives in many ways, negatively contributing to our physical and emotional health. I believe the mind has the innate capacity to heal. Therapy can provide the key to unlocking our own power to make positive changes, improving how we respond to life's challenges. The process of change and emotional growth is one that starts with the initial step of reaching out. Therapy can provide a safe, confidential, judgement free environment to explore how to manage stress and live life fully.

I see myself as a navigator. You are the captain. You decide where you want to go. I may have a few good maps to help you get there. It's your boat. You decide how fast or slow. Let me help you build a sturdy ship. So that no matter what stormy seas you find yourself in, you know how to rely on the resources within you. And around you. And how to keep them strong. We are indeed complex creatures. We need to stay in touch by learning about the many ways to find peace and understanding about what things mean. And what we can do about it. And you don't have to do it alone. I'll walk with you.

You wake up every morning with a pit in your stomach. You feel nauseated and just can't calm down. Everything in your life feels like a mountain that you have to climb. School is overwhelming and you can't stay on top of your classes. The expectations at your job are growing faster than you are able to keep up. You try daily to fend off the panic, the worry, the stress. When you finally try to sleep, you spend hours fighting off the negative thoughts and fears, only to wake up and do it all again tomorrow.

I have worked with marriages, families and individuals for nearly two decades in various capacities and have been practicing as a Graduate trained therapist since 2016. I am of the opinion that most people are NOT mentally ill, rather they are emotionally or behaviorally stuck in a pattern that is creating dissatisfaction or discomfort in living which is often the result of a difficult experience.

Life is hard and it can become overwhelming with all the difficulties we face daily. It is important for us to be heard and recognized in our struggles and challenges. I love to provide my clients and families a listening ear and safe space to be understood and valued in their stories, to recognize how past experiences inform their present and discover strengths they didn’t even know they had.

I enjoy people and I enjoy helping people. People struggle, it is most often a fact of life. Nobody is immune. Sometimes mental illness affects progression of life and sometimes life causes mental health struggles. Either way, the struggle is real. We get drug down by life, we struggle to solve problems, anger gets in the way, anxiety, depression, problem solving. The constant battle between our brain and emotions can be overwhelming. I like people to feel and see results of their work. My goal in my work and life is to help others find and create changes and joy in their own lives despite the hardships they face.

I believe each person experiences life and trauma in different ways. In my experience, I have come across so many people who are hurting and I enjoy being able to be on this journey with them which starts with first establishing a relationship. I know how trauma can change someone along with grief and it comes in waves at times. I practice using CBT. I am trained in working with first responders and I specialize in narcissistic abuse recovery and know the challenges you face on that path to healing. I look forward to getting to know you! If you get my voicemail, leave a message and I will return the call within 24 hours.

Whether you find yourself struggling to navigate through personal relationships, facing professional setbacks, or battling with the challenges of mental health issues, the weight of these burdens can feel overwhelming. Past traumas only perpetuate the overwhelm. It's entirely understandable to feel as though you've exhausted all avenues looking for relief, only to find yourself in what feels like a constant cycle of hardship. In the words of Brene Brown, “owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it.”

Are you tired of constantly feeling on edge? This is not your fault. You are not broken. Your body is trying to heal itself by processing the stressful/traumatic situations you have been through. Your nervous system is getting flooded (unintended overwhelm) while your body is trying to process the situations you have been through. Because the nervous system is flooded, your brain is unable to file the memories as things that happened in the past. This is where I come in. I help you navigate these memories in ways that do not overwhelm your nervous system so that you are able to file the memories as things that happened in the past.

It's incredibly human to find ourselves anxious, detached, and overwhelmed. Disconnect in relationships can often feel miserable, and keeping healthy boundaries and navigating conflict can be a struggle. My expertise is in creating a therapeutic relationship that goes beyond traditional cognitive approaches, valuing an embodied sense of change, where patterns can shift, trauma can feel integrated, and we can achieve an overall sense of resilience and connectedness, to ourselves and each other.

Hello! My offices are designed to enhance a calming environment so that persons who seek help feel calm and safe. That being said, also due to advanced technology with the sciences such as neuroscience, micro-biology, epigenetics, study on neuroplasticity and other research, we understand more than we ever did before. This allows us to enhance our skills and benefits to you. I hear you and work hard to adjust to your needs. More importantly, we can change, “Scientific Fact”. Talk therapy is important but not enough. With this work most people improve their relationships and experiences in life. I look forward to seeing you soon!

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
