My focus areas are adults seeking support for anxiety, existential issues, grief, chronic illness, caregiver issues, depression, life transitions, relationship issues, & trauma.
My approach to therapy is as unique as you. I believe in building a strong therapeutic relationship by getting to know you, your story, what you value, and what you find meaningful. We work together to get to the core of the issue you’d like to address and listen for the deepest voice within you. I partner with you in helping you to navigate the realities and limitations of being human while also embracing the freedom to choose how to live your life, align with your values, live in the present, and find meaning.

Particularly when it comes to issues of isolation due to sexuality, spiritual trauma/manipulation, and loss of faith in the midst of a tragedy.

Together, we journey to get you grounded, help you focus on what is important to you and provide tools that facilitate healing. We find the answers in your story of how you got to where you are and where you would like to be.

If trauma, a life transition, a personal or relationship crisis, a loss, or difficulties with depression or anxiety is causing you to struggle with functioning in a happy and healthy way, let’s talk.
Life changes. Some life changes can be anticipated or predicted; some occur spontaneously, without notice or warning. Regardless of how they occur, all require adaptation and adjustment to what is different or new. We seldom have much difficulty with small changes—those that don’t disrupt a familiar lifestyle or a solid sense of self. Other life changes can be more challenging, sometimes making navigation from the present uncertain, frightening, and maybe even overwhelming. The counseling process can promote successful transitioning and significant personal growth in the course of life changes.

Through life’s messiness, it can be easy to lose track of who we are and where we want to go. Therapy can help remind us that our past traumas and current stressors shape us, but need not define us. As a therapist, it’s with compassion, understanding, and humor that I offer a space for self-discovery and self-actualization. Whatever brought you here, I strive to connect not just as therapist-and-client, but as people. My areas of focus include trauma, grief, LGBTQ+, anxiety, depression, and navigating life transitions.

Some of the presenting issues I have successfully treated, have been, but not limited to; ADHD, Anxiety, Child Abuse/Neglect, Depression, Family Conflict, Grief, Military Deployment/Reintegration Concerns and PTSD.
Everyone has experienced emotional distress at some point in his or her life. A good indicator of when it's time to seek professional help, is when stress becomes overwhelming and unmanageable. Recognizing that you need help is the first step toward restoring a healthy life balance.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
