If we are asking about my "ideal" client, I would say that it is someone who is open-minded. Someone who knows that having struggles is OKAY. Someone who knows that their flaws do not define them. We all have flaws, and that makes us human! It takes a STRONG person to be able to say "hey, this doesn't feel good, I think I need to ask for help", and then DO IT. Life outside of our control is already so chaotic, why not make attempts to bring peace into our lives?

I am both inspired by and respectful of the time, courage and commitment it takes for you to engage in a therapeutic relationship, especially via telehealth. Utilizing a strength’s-based approach, I believe helping you to set realistic and achievable goals is pivotal to a successful outcome of self-sufficiency and self-care. Working from a place of compassion, flexibility and sensitivity, I also recognize and incorporate in treatment the importance of different life factors (e.g., family, cultural and environment) that heavily influence us socially and emotionally and our abilities to cope with challenges.

Finding peace of mind during stressful times may feel impossible. Oftentimes, we seek to escape painful emotions and difficult life circumstances through drinking alcohol, gambling or illicit substance use only to find out it doesn't help to lessen the pain we feel inside.

I had the honor of serving as the director of the counseling center at Columbus College of Art & Design for 10 years before moving into private practice. I especially enjoy working with artists and creatives, queer folks, transgender and non-binary folks, and neurodiverse folks. Some of the treatment areas I've focused on most include PTSD and complex trauma, sexual violence, childhood abuse, dissociation, anxiety and panic, depression, and relationship concerns. I believe in folks’ own natural and innate ability to learn, shift, grow, and heal, and I see myself as a guide or partner in the process. I highly value client feedback.

I believe all people are capable of healing, regardless of your reason for seeking therapy. We cannot control the majority of what we experience, making humans easy candidates for feeling mentally unwell or stuck. Whether you’re ready to process unresolved trauma, struggling with a relationship or transition, experiencing increased anxiety and depression- or anything in between, I’d love to hold space for you.

In my 14 years and counting in the mental health field.. I have found we are all doing our best with unique sufferings and life experiences. To deal with those our brain can use coping that also causes suffering. The best way for transformational change is to dig deep to find out your unique roadmap first then work on new skills. Through this work my clients have; find relief, clarity, empowerment, eat without fear, stop binge eating, feel motivated to get up in the morning, not live in constant state of dread and anxiety. My favorite: Self Worth. All through slowing down with intentional focused work.

Pain and, often, trauma are a normal part of our humanity. Unless there is healing, the pain and/or trauma leave wounds that accompany us throughout our lives. It is my belief and experience these wounds can be healed. I’ve encountered personal healing and have had the privilege of facilitating the healing of others. As wounds heal, our true Self is able to expand, grow and awaken into its true nature, allowing us to live happier, freer and more peaceful.

My ideal clients are those struggling with trauma issues who are seeking ways to resolve these issues before they become enduring problems & patterns. I also enjoy working with those who are struggling with complex unresolved issues of trauma. I encourage my clients to take a holistic approach to growth. We are physical, mental, emotional & spiritual beings. The path forward is achieved by weaving all of these aspects of ourselves together into a coherent, unified whole. We can experience growth & healing. We then become a healthy influence on everyone & everything around us. This is my hope for anyone seeking therapy.
