Limiting NEW individual therapy clients to those with EATING disorder related issues. Whether this is your first time in counseling or something you’ve tried many times in your life, I’m excited to take this journey with you. Coming to accept that your food or body image issues may be too much to handle on your own can be challenging. Having the right support can make recovery possible. Taking a new approach to face your challenges requires courage. I believe that allowing yourself to connect with others, such as in a group, can also be an invaluable part of the healing process.

Because of vast experience, I can utilize many resources and am able to work with many different kinds of people with varying needs: from those who have experienced trauma and need only a few sessions to work it through, to those who require long-term treatment for major personality changes.
I enjoy working with people during any phase of their journey. It's rewarding to connect with couples, adolescents, and adults going through stage of life changes and or trauma. I find joy in collaborating to cultivate peoples' motivations to change in a way that allows them to gain insight into their behaviors and achieve optimal health. I view people through a holistic lens thus seeing the whole person rather than their symptoms.

You were not born inherently flawed, you were not born to suffer, but maybe somewhere along the way, your brain received this information, shaping the way you live your life. The isolation, guilt, shame, anger, and sadness often feel inescapable, making it difficult to ask for and accept help from others. You may feel stuck in a loop of harmful and problematic behaviors, thoughts, relationships- you know something isn’t working, but can’t seem to figure out why or where to begin to start feeling better.

After many years of listening to people's stories as a journalist, workshop leader, and social worker, I am convinced that all of us are greater than the traumas we have experienced or the challenges we struggle to overcome.
Let's be honest - it's not easy to find queer-friendly, progressive, non-Christian therapy in Ohio, let alone an experienced provider who's comfortable doing the deep work of healing trauma at the roots. If this is what you're looking for, reach out and let's see if we may be a good fit!

I specialize in trauma, postpartum, and attachment and work best with individuals 18+.
The most important relationship you have is the one with yourself. We all have a story. Telling your story to an attuned listener can be transformational. Healing is a collaborative endeavor. As you share your experiences and I listen, you can become more connected to yourself. I work best with clients looking to address symptoms of trauma, depression, anxiety, stress management, relationship issues, and parenting problems. I believe digging deep into ourselves and learning how our early relationships in life impact our present coping strategies and feelings can help us move towards the future we want.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
