Finding a way to live authentically, and stay grounded as you navigate the uncertainties and unknowns of life can be very challenging. As a Gestalt, body-oriented psychotherapist, and dancer, I utilize evidence-based, embodied- relational, and collaborative approaches to help you find your way. I will meet you with curiosity, openness, and a nonjudgemental stance. I will support increasing your awareness of your strengths, gifts, and uniqueness, while collaborating with you to identify habits and patterns that are no longer useful or effective in helping you meet your needs.

I am currently in a private practice, providing both group and individual services for clients. Supporting growth in self-awareness helps us lean into who we are, accept ourselves, and look at growth edges that may be painful or scary. As a therapist, I encourage my clients to achieve better ways of engaging with problems of living and improve personal well-being by expanding self-awareness and developing interpersonal communication skills. I practice from a clinical, Gestalt-oriented, developmental lens with evidence-based approaches, to support clients where they are and as they engage in the therapeutic process.

Thankfully, I consider myself blessed to have never “worked” a day in my life. I started over 25 years ago providing clinical social work to abused and neglected children and adolescents. Over the years, I have worked with multiple populations in rural and urban settings with low and high incomes. I diagnose and provide therapy to all age ranges, children to seniors. The diversity of the populations I work with include children, adolescents, adults, couples, LGBTQIA, veterans, and families.

I am not able to accept new clients at this time. I feel honored working with individuals who are uncomfortable in their lives and need a safe place to talk. Some have anxiety, depression, bi-polar disorders or cancer. Some have to learn how to cope with shifts in their mental or physical health which bring challenges in their relationships and their abilities to enjoy their lives. Others are being confronted with bereavement, and grief or changes that are difficult for them to cope with alone. My approach is based on 20+ years of experience working in mental health and also in the hospital outpatient clinic.

As a transpersonal, body and gestalt psychotherapist, EMDR and Comprehensive Energy Psychology practitioner, meditation teacher and hypnotherapist, I offer an embodied and integrated approach to therapy, coaching, consultation, and teaching. Our problems and difficulties are opportunities for growth and wisdom, our innate intelligence always knows exactly what we need to transform or heal. Often, we need to undergo a process of compassionately encountering what it is that we find unacceptable, terrifying, or seemingly impossible for us to bear or let go. Paradoxically, these are the things that can lead us into deeper relationship with our true self.

Relational Therapists

How does relational therapy work?

Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.

Is relational therapy evidence-based?

Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.

How long are people typically in relational therapy?

Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.

Does relational therapy work?

While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
