Hello! Thank you for reading, and for valuing your mental health—you are important, and it takes a lot of help, skills, and spirit to be you. This wild world - I don't know how anyone could do it alone these days. Everyone can benefit from therapy - from having a designated person and a specific hour to sit down and unfold the many arenas of your life, to examine your strengths, weaknesses, fears and hopes, and see how to be happy. I work with people dealing with trauma, addiction, depression, anxiety, chronic fatigue, and relationship issues using EMDR, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Internal Family Systems, and meditation.

You're here because you're somewhere between "deeply worried" & "frantic" over a difficult relationship. You feel frustrated, confused, hurt, angry, & maybe a little crazy. The other person may be a partner, parent, sibling, or adult child - someone w/whom you feel you want to have a relationship, but whose criticisms, controlling behaviors. volatility, manipulations, or demands steal your joy. They may also cost you a lot of time, money, energy, social support, & creativity. You wonder if you're dealing w Narcissistic Abuse. They refuse to change. You believe staying stuck where you are may destroy you, and you may be right.

Becoming a parent can be simultaneously the most rewarding and most challenging time in your life. You may be struggling with conception, or you just gave birth and are experiencing scary and debilitating depression or anxiety, or maybe you’ve lost who you are in all the roles you’re playing (mother, partner, employee) and you want to find yourself again without feeling guilty about it. Or maybe nothing is “wrong” but everything still sucks. I specialize in treating all facets of maternal mental health & wellness, from Millennial/Generation Z life transitions, to conception, infertility and loss, through pregnancy and postpartum.

Are you a young adult woman experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem issues, and even trauma? Self-discovery and creating/finding identity are goals I work best with. In my most recent job, I have found that domestic violence survivors and women who experience issues specific to being a woman have piqued my interest. As a therapist, the most rewarding thing is to guide women toward embracing themselves for who they are, heal past wounds, and empower them to live fully and authentically. I believe I have been given a purpose in this world to serve others, and that's what I was created to do.

With deeper understanding of ourselves and our experiences comes an ability to intentionally navigate the world and live a more fulfilling life. Taking a dynamic approach to therapy, I work most effectively with clients who want to increase their understanding of why they do what they do, and how past relationships (both with themselves and others) affect current behavior, concerns, and "stuck points". It is with this new understanding that they can change patterns that are no longer working for them.

Often clients come in outwardly successful – beautiful family, great career, always appearing as though they have it together. Inwardly, though, they can be experiencing high levels of anxiety, perfectionism, and a constant fear of dropping a ball. Sometimes even those closest to them do not realize how much they are struggling on the inside. Helping women align their internal and external experiences – to practice taking up space – is something I am wholly committed to.

My ideal clients are caretakers, helping professionals, and people pleasers—often middle-aged women with lingering childhood wounds. They’re thinkers and survivors but want more than just managing guilt, shame, depression, or perfectionism. They face physical symptoms like migraines, nausea, or autoimmune issues, even when doctors say “you’re fine.” But they get to a point where they want to go further than just cope with symptoms. They’re ready to break through the wall, make big changes, heal deeply, and finally trust themselves.

Feminist Therapists
How does feminist therapy work?
Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.
What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?
Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.
How long does feminist therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.
Does feminist therapy work?
As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
