Also, I can help you cope more effectively if you are experiencing anxious or depressed feelings.
I consider it a privilege to be able to help people grow and find joy through therapy. I can support and guide you through the process of building a better life for yourself. Making the decision to see a therapist is a healthy choice! With the help of therapy, I have seen people transform their lives and make their dreams reality, and in short become who they have always hoped to be. I have constantly been in awe, as a therapist, of the strengths many people don't realize they have--that therapy can help them discover!

I primarily work with young adults on issues related to school, stress, work/life balance, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and several other concerns. I also like to work with individuals who might need that extra "nudge" to assist them in achieving their goals. I love collaborating with others and learning what motivates you. In addition, I have a passion for assisting individuals who have been victims of narcissistic abuse.

Anxiety and depression are inevitable parts of the human condition and we all will experience both in varying degrees throughout our lives. I have found the happiest and most fulfilled humans have developed coping mechanisms and a personal philosophy that supports themselves as they traverse this thing called life. My job is not to tell you how to live your life, but to help you discover and develop a life worth living to its fullest. I believe counseling can benefit most people whether to resolve an issue that has made itself overwhelming or to level up through self-actualization.

Parenting can be so challenging, to say the least. The life transition of welcoming a baby can come with many ups, downs, and feelings of isolation or defeat. You are physically tired, and often feel like you are running in an uphill race. You feel overwhelmed, with so many decisions to make for your family. You have a lot on your mind and often feel the weight of those thoughts physically, mentally, and emotionally. Maybe you’ve seen a mental health professional before, or considered it, but once again feel that lingering anxiety/ depression creeping up again now that you have a little one(s).

Whether you are overwhelmed by life, feeling stuck, or hoping to optimize well-being, I am so excited that you are taking the step to heal. I believe that there is no "one size fits all" approach to therapy, and look forward to beginning this unique, challenging, and beautiful journey with you. My background as a collegiate athlete gives me specific interest in working with athletes, though I work with individuals of all walks of life. Many clients I see have experienced anxiety, depression, and/or trauma, all of which can feel daunting. I admire your courage in seeking support. We are not intended to "go it alone."

This improves stress management and builds tools necessary for treating symptoms of depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress.
I help those having difficulty controlling their frustrations. Anger and other intense emotions can impact your judgement and decision making, which can lead to problems with your thoughts, feelings, and how you interact with others. I help individuals with goals that might include: becoming more in control of their emotions, working on managing stress and anger, and dealing with conflict in a healthy way. I teach men how to become emotionally vulnerable, which leads to greater satisfactions in relationships with others and themselves. The greater we know ourselves, the more connected we feel with others.

I work with Police, Fire, EMS and Dispatch specializing in the unique culture that many people don't understand. Being a first responder impacts your self care, your relationships, your family, your beliefs and more. There is also chronic exposure to trauma and critical incidents that over time can contribute to mental health symptoms.

Depression Therapists

What is the goal of therapy for depression?

Therapy for depression has several major goals. One is to relieve the mental pain of depression, which distorts feeling and thinking so that sufferers cannot see beyond their current state of mind or envision feeling better. Another is to give people the mental tools to recognize and correct the kinds of distorted thinking that turn a problem into a catastrophe and lead to despair. Therapy also teaches people how to process negative emotions in constructive ways, so they have more control over their own emotional reactivity. And it helps people regain the ability to see themselves positively, the motivation to do things, and the capacity for pleasure.

What happens in therapy for depression?

Perhaps most important, no matter the type of therapy, patients form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Patients learn to identify and to challenge their own erroneous beliefs and thoughts that amplify the effects of negative experiences. They learn to identify situations in which they are especially vulnerable. And they learn new patterns of thinking and behaving. They may be given “homework” assignments in which they practice their developing skills. In addition, good therapists regularly monitor patients to assess whether and how much the condition is improving.

What therapy types help with depression?

Several types of short-term therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) helps clients challenge their negative thoughts and beliefs, learn new behavioral strategies, and curb reactivity to distressing situations. Behavioral activation (BA) is a form of therapy often used in conjunction with CBT; it focuses on engagement in rewarding activity as a pathway to changing negative feelings and disturbed mood. Another widely used approach is interpersonal therapy (IPT), which targets the social difficulties that both give rise to and get exacerbated by depression. Therapists may combine approaches as needed.

Can therapy for depression be done online?

Studies have found that online therapy can be highly effective for treating depression, although it may be more challenging to build a good therapist-patient alliance on screen than in person—at least at first. However, online therapy can offer considerable advantages. Accessibility and convenience are tops among them. Some people actually find it easier to talk about problems online than in person. While online therapy typically limits visibility of facial expression and body gestures that give important nonverbal cues to a patient’s state of mind, it can give therapists a glimpse into a patient’s world and life, providing information that can be highly useful in guiding therapy.

How effective is therapy for depression?

Many studies show that therapy is highly effective provided that patients complete the prescribed course of therapy, commonly 16 to 20 sessions. Over the long term, it is more effective than medication and the effects are more enduring. As a result, psychotherapy has the power not just to relieve current suffering but to prevent future episodes of the disorder. Therapy reverses the dysfunction in neural circuitry that disposes individuals to a negative view of themselves, the world, and their future and they acquire coping techniques, problem-solving skills, and understanding of their own vulnerabilities that are useful over the course of a lifetime.
