Immediate help call today! My philosophy is a team approach in which the therapist and client are co- experts. With a relational worldview and client centered approach, my purpose is to serve others by assisting them with building lasting connections with themselves, family, their higher power and with their environments in which they currently live. I believe that each of us have been created to live life on purpose, with purpose, and with meaning. Wellness means giving attention to ourselves physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. During the most difficult times in our lives, we can find deficits in our wellness – in any of the above areas. When we are impaired, our functioning is also impaired. As a counselor, my mission is to work with adults, couples, families, and children during the most difficult times in their lives. I am dedicated to empowering you and your loved ones to find “wholeness.”

Life isn’t perfect, it can be an unpredictable journey. Sometimes figuring out the next step on the journey can leave you feeling stuck and frustrated. Processing through these moments alone can be difficult. My goal is to offer guidance and support to individuals through these moments. I think we all can relate to life being challenging and sometimes we’re too close to be able to see through it.

OCD and anxiety take a small possibility and make it feel like a certain probability. Intrusive thoughts go against our moral beliefs causing distress and make us lose trust in ourselves. I promise that no matter what may be on your mind, you are not alone! Safety behaviors can become routine and we don’t always think of them as compulsions, such seeking for reassurance. OCD will never be satisfied by any particular answer and comfort found from compulsions only provides fleeting relief. Here’s the thing: you have the power to challenge your OCD and anxiety head on through treatment.

Individual counseling provides an opportunity for you to talk openly about your thoughts and feelings in a safe and non-judgmental environment. I work with a variety of clients including children, adolescents, adults, and those within the LGBTQ community. With children and some adolescents, differing modalities of therapy, including art and music, provide an additional outlet for those who cannot always verbalize thoughts and feelings. Family dynamics can often be challenging, whether you have a traditional or non-traditional family, and I can help. Together, we can work through your concerns.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
