For the past 30 years, as a clinical psychologist, I have assisted clients in coping with a wide range of life stressors and emotional struggles including depression, anxiety, grief, psychological trauma, abuse and neglect, work-related stress and family/marital/relationship difficulties. My professional goal is to facilitate clients' happiness, peace and fulfillment in life by using evidence-based treatment strategies that provide clients coping tools for everyday life. I never lose sight of what a great honor and privilege it is to have clients share their thoughts and feelings, hopes and dreams, and personal struggles with me.

I graduated from Kent State with a Master's degree in Community Counseling. I am an independently Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Ohio and am endorsed by the National Board for Certified Counselors. I have provided therapy for variety of mental health issues in outpatient and community settings. My specialties include early childhood, trauma, sexual behavior problems, adjustment issues, anxiety, depression, and behavioral concerns. I utilize an array of therapeutic techniques and interventions to individually tailor to each clients' needs. I enjoy working with people of all ages, and make sure my clients understand the therapy process through psychoeducation and a collaborative treatment approach.

I am a strengths-based counselor who helps people figure out how they can feel better mentally and emotionally. I work with clients of varying ages and diagnoses. I do not treat diagnoses, I help people identify ways to be more equipped to handle life stressors, whatever they may be.

I am not able to accept new clients at this time. I feel honored working with individuals who are uncomfortable in their lives and need a safe place to talk. Some have anxiety, depression, bi-polar disorders or cancer. Some have to learn how to cope with shifts in their mental or physical health which bring challenges in their relationships and their abilities to enjoy their lives. Others are being confronted with bereavement, and grief or changes that are difficult for them to cope with alone. My approach is based on 20+ years of experience working in mental health and also in the hospital outpatient clinic.

My ideal client may or may not have an idea where his or her distress is coming from but IS motivated to make changes to alleviate that distress. Together, we will develop strategies tailored to you to help you cope with current and/or past stressors so that you may lead a more peaceful, content life. My goal with all my clients is to help them feel like the best version of themselves.

I guide clients to gain insight and soulutions to their issues; emotions, life/relationship challenges and stressors. My experience and training uniquely qualify me to help guide individuals, spouses/partners, and couples struggling with sexual compulsivity issues, sexuality issues, affairs, co-dependency, and trauma. Also, I have extensive experience assisting clients navigate through the process of healing from divorce/relationship break-up. My approach with clients is empathic, solution focused and validating.

I am philosophically committed to the belief that people function at their highest level in the context of their relationships and their communities. I work with each client as an individual but also as part of his or her social environment. Therefore in addition to working with anxiety, phobias, depression and marriage and family issues, I offer some special services. These include: in-school observation, in-home work with children and families, relaxation training and social skill training.

I am Hillary Schultz, a clinician and owner of Progression Counseling Group and PG Clinic. Individual services are available to those ages 5 and up as well as family, couples and group counseling.
