I utilize CBT, EMDR, art, motivational interviewing and holistic techniques to create a calm and comfortable environment.
In today’s world most people have experienced a variety of stressors that seem to weave throughout life. Trying to balance a sense of normalcy in the day to day can become overwhelming when you don’t understand why you think, act, or cope the way you do. Anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, stress and destructive thoughts can impact the relationship you have with yourself and others. Realizing you are at a point where you may need more insight or guidance can be distressing. Finding the right type of help shouldn't cause additional worry.

As a licensed therapist and clinical supervisor with training in EMDR, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma Informed Care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy ( CBT), and Collaborative Assessment and Management in Suicidality (CAMS),.
The environment I strive to create in counseling is one of unconditional acceptance, authenticity, and compassion. My approach to counseling comes from the Existential school of thought. Together and without judgment we can explore difficult topics like the feeling of meaninglessness of existence, the impermanence of all, and the anxiety that comes from our freedom to be the authors of our lives. The journey to find meaning and purpose in life can at times feel isolating, however you do not have to walk down that road alone.

I utilize interventions ranging from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to play based therapy, using art, books, and toys to engage clients hands-on.
When we have a safe space to talk about our feelings, they can become less overwhelming and more manageable. As a therapist, I use a strengths-based and collaborative approach to partner with my clients and their caregivers to work through stressors, express emotions, and develop coping skills. With years of experience in community mental health and healthcare, I have the most extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults who have experienced anger, anxiety, depression and trauma.

I use an eclectic approach, including creative based therapies, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral approaches, and dialectical behavioral therapy techniques.
Helping teens find their own strength is my passion. I am excited about empowering them and others to make healthy changes in their own lives. Right now, we’re seeing many teens struggle with anxiety and depression, in addition to the regular stresses of life. I help them process their trauma and build a great life while working through their depression and anxiety.

I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy(ACT), CBT, EMDR, and Brainspotting.
The most rewarding aspect of my work as a therapist is supporting my clients in connecting with their values and learning ways to break through mental barriers and overcoming life challenges. By becoming more aware of the nature of the mind and our relationship to it, we are better able to open up and willingly take steps toward becoming the sort of person we want to be, deep in our hearts. This opens the door to a better understanding of how beliefs and attitudes towards ourselves, others, and the world have become conditioned, and how earlier life experiences have impacted and shaped our sense of self over the course of time..

The client and I work on these goals using several evidence-based interventions, such as CBT, interpersonal therapy, grief and trauma work to modify learned unhelpful responses.
Many women experience emotional challenges that manifest as anxiety, depression, and behavioral issues. These symptoms may appear suddenly or over time in response to a major life occurrence. My niche clinical practice focuses on women's issues- particularly within the areas of loss and grief, physical and sexual trauma, and maternal mental health. My experience as a grief and trauma therapist services women who experience emotional and behavioral issues in response to miscarriage, infertility, postpartum depression, and other women’s issues that involve mood disorders, anxiety and decreased relationship satisfaction.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
