I work with women and children because I am fiercely protective of these populations in my own life. There is a term in the therapy world called “wounded healer.” This term is from Carl Jung and research suggests that upwards of 70% of counselors and psychologist have had their own “wounding” experiences which led them to their career path. I work with these populations because my counselors and psychologists growing up helped me see through the fog of abusive parenting and romantic relationships. They helped me grow and heal, doing the only thing that they could- providing a safe space for me to cry, vent, be sorrowful, and share.

Healing should be accessible to all. All people have the capacity for growth and healing if they choose to seek it. We may not have the power to control everything that happens to us. We do however, have the power to heal and undo self-defeating thinking patterns that undesirable experiences create. It’s time to invest your time and energy into getting to where you want to be.

Hi! I’m Rachel Heiser - owner of Weather The Storm Counseling and Consultation, LLC in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. I opened my practice to specifically serve the first responder community. As a police wife, I understand the different cultures and challenges that come with being a first responder and first responder family. I enjoy working with both first responders or their spouses as I feel I have a unique perspective in being able to relate to both sides.

Job loss, divorce, loss of a loved one, legal issues, health issues, even joyous occasions like a new addition to your family are just some of life's biggest challenges. Sometimes people can cope with life's instabilities for years and then suddenly, they just can't. The proverbial straw that has broken the camel's back. We learn the coping skills we once used are no longer working. By working together, we can develop effective ways to manage life's challenges I chose the counseling field out of a desire to help individuals find as much contentment in their lives as possible. I am a Licensed Social Worker with a passion for decreasing the stigma surrounding mental health and promoting the health and well being of my clients. For my undergraduate degree, I moved from Central Jersey (Yes! It exists!) to South Jersey to attend Stockton University. I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work with a Minor in Behavioral Neuroscience from Stockton, and then moved on to attend graduate school in Philadelphia. I received my Master of Social Work Degree with a clinical concentration from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice in May of 2020.
