I see patients in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis who are interested in depth-oriented work to foster significant change in one or more areas of their lives. Working collaboratively, I help patients to free up and liberate the parts of themselves that feel stuck, sedimented, or otherwise lacking in vitality, creativity, and potential. I work with adults individually as well as couples. I also offer relationally-oriented group psychotherapy.

While there is no such thing as an ideal client, I deeply enjoy working with individuals who enjoy exploring the complexities of human existence and how their previous experiences have shaped their present day lives. I enjoy working with those who strive to improve their day to day functioning through self reflection, introspection and commitment to continual personal and emotional growth.

Life is hard and we all encounter many struggles. It is also an opportunity for positive change to occur through careful examination of patterns and experiences that may have affected you. I believe that one of the most important parts of therapy is that the client and clinician are a good “fit”. The best work is able to be produced when this connection is made.

I possess experience in numerous specialties, such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem, addiction, trauma, anger management, coping skills, grief, relationship concerns, & PTSD.
My ideal client is an individual who is open to working as a team and benefiting from a therapeutic relationship in which honesty, accountability, and empathy are paramount. While a client’s concerns are unique and personal, there is nothing they cannot overcome through effective therapeutic interventions and a highly-trained and relatable clinician.

Life is hard. Life is unfair. Life is suffering. These statements likely echo what many are feeling. It is times like these that many of us lose sight of our purpose, our value and our intrinsic worth. Whether the reaction of prolonged stress and overwhelm, the realization that our life or the people we know are not always what or who we believed them to be, or the struggle to find meaning in routine or even the mundane, we all arrive at this place in different ways.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
